We offer C.S. trousers based on three principle styles:

1) Richmond Depot Trousers.  These are based on a County Cloth, Inc. pattern and have a somewhat tapered leg.  Front pockets are of the mule ear variety with buttons and the rear adjustment belt has a pronged buckle closure.  Price $140.00 plus $6.50 shipping.

2)  'Other' or perhaps Western theater of operations style.  Also based on the County Cloth, Inc. pattern. These have a slit side pocket and button back belt closure with tapered legs.  Price $140.00 plus $6.50 shipping.

3) Straight Leg Pattern.  These trousers have -as you might have guessed- straight legs, rather than tapered (same basic width top to bottom).   This style resembles the U.S. issue trousers in that they are rather roomy (or baggy) in the leg.  Pockets are of a rounded flap design similar to the mule ear style but without any button closure.  Back belt has pronged buckle closure.  Price $150.00 plus $6.50 shipping.

All trousers listed have machine sewn seams, using cotton thread, with all visible stitching and topstitching done by hand.  All have a five button fly (unless the maker is asleep at the wheel and puts in six) using paper backed tin, bone, or buyers choice of  buttons (1/2" for fly and 5/8" or larger for waist belt) and  six 5/8" or larger suspender buttons, which can either be attached or shipped loose for the user to fit to suspender configuration.  Lining and pockets are cotton drill or osnaberg.  Cotton duck reenforcement is used on buttonholes.  Seams are ironed flat but can be 'flat rolled' if desired at additional cost.   Jeans cloth is used in most of our trouser construction.  We have can and do make them out of wool too, either kersey, broadcloth or Woolrich depending on desires.  All wear very well and are made to last.  Piping, tape or other trim and/or additions are available, the additional cost of which will be negotiated at time of ordering.

Rear of RD type trousers showing back belt and pronged buckle.  Also note Confederate trousers are not 'pieced' as with Union trousers.   Private purchase trousers can be found in any manner of construction, but these are typical C.S. 'issue' trouser pattern.

Other/Western Theater issue trousers.  Rear view showing button back belt closure.  These are made of  Ben Tart jeans cloth dyed using steel/iron dye.  Interesting color that darkens with exposure (as opposed to changing lighter like most other naturally dyed fabric).

Other issue trousers view showing front side slit pocket and some fly detail.  Lining is 100% cotton drill.  Note that the inside back of this pair does not have the protective lining beneath the beltline that the above RD type have.  Some did....
