"I really believe that God chooses people to do certain things, the way Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci or Mozart or Muhammad Ali or Martin Luther King is chosen. And that is their mission to do that thing. And I think that I haven't scratched the surface yet of what my real purpose is for being here. I'm committed to my art. I believe that all art has as its ultimate goal the union between the material and the spiritual, the human and the divine. And I believe that is the very reason for the exis-tence of art and what I do. And I feel fortunate in being that instrument through which music flows.... Deep inside I feel that this world we live in is really a big, huge, monumental symphonic orchestra. I believe that in its primordial form all of creation is sound and that it's not just random sound, that it's music. You've heard the expression, mu-sic of the spheres? Well, that's a very literal phrase. In the Gospels, we read, "And the Lord God made man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man be-came a living soul." That breath of life to me is the music of life and it permeates every fiber of creation. In one of the pieces of the Dangerous album, I say: "Life songs of ages, throbbing in my blood, have danced the rhythm of the tide and flood." This is a very literal statement, because the same new miracle intervals and biological rhythms that sound out the architecture of my DNA also governs the movement of the stars. The same music governs the rhythm of the seasons, the pulse of our heartbeats, the migration of birds, the ebb and flow of ocean tides, the cycles of growth, evolution and dissolution. It's music, it's rhythm. And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance. It's like, my purpose, it's what I'm here for."

I think a life in music is a life beautifully spent,
and this is what I have devoted my life to.

When I sing full-on I use my whole body.
I open my throat and let it fly out.

Laughter is the closest distance between two people.

VictorBorge.jpg

Music is the silence between the notes.

claudedebussyc.jpg

What's best in music is not
to be found in the notes.

gustavmahler.jpg

When I open my eyes, I can only sigh,
for what I see is contrary to my creed:
and I must despise the world for not perceiving that music is a higher revelation than any wisdom or philosophy.
It is the wine that inspires new creations.

beethoven.jpg

Music expresses that which can not be said
and on which it is impossible to be silent.

victorhugo.jpg

If I were not a physicist,
I would probably be a musician.
 I often think in music.
I live my daydreams in music.
I see my life in terms of music.
I get most joy in life out of music.

einstein.jpg

Music is the harmonious voice of creation;
an echo of the invisible world.

giuseppemazzini.jpg

Let us describe the education of our men. What then is the education to be? Perhaps we could hardly find a better method than that which the experience of the past has already discovered, which consists, I believe, in gymnastics for the body and music for the mind.

plato.jpg

Music is a moral law.
It gives soul to the universe,
wings to the mind,
and flight to the imagination.

plato.jpg

Music is the arithmetic of sounds
as optics is the geometry of light.

claudedebussyc.jpg

Without music life would be a mistake.

fwnietzschesiebe.jpg

Music is perpetual,
and only the hearing is intermittent.

thoreau.jpg

The earth has music for those who listen.

shakespeare.jpg

Without music,
life is a journey through a desert.

patconroy.jpg

Music creates order out of chaos: for rhythm
imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody
imposes continuity upon the disjointed, and
harmony imposes compatibility
 upon the incongruous.

yehudimenuhincrop.jpg

Music was my refuge.
I could crawl into the space between the notes
and curl my back to loneliness.

angelou.jpg

Music is well said to be the speech of angels;
in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man
is felt to be so divine. It brings us near to the infinite.

thomascarlylecrop.jpg

I think music in itself is healing.
It's an explosive expression of humanity.
It's something we are all touched by.
No matter what culture we're from,
everyone loves music.

billyjoel.jpg

True music must repeat the thought
and inspirations of the people and the time.
My people are Americans and my time is today.

georgegershwincrop.gif

Music produces a kind of pleasure
which human nature cannot do without.

confucius.jpg

Music expresses feeling and thought, without language;
it was below and before speech,
and it is above and beyond all words.

robertgingersoll.jpg

A painter paints pictures on canvas.
But musicians paint their pictures on silence.
