2009 Fall Field Show
by
The show is based on the music of Jay Dawson. Fleeting shadows, furtive visions, night birds,
and dawn. These are the images we confront while on Night Watch.
The title Night Watch or The Night Watch is also the common name of one of the most famous
works by the great Dutch painter Rembrandt.
The painting is renowned for three elements: its colossal size (11ft 10in x 14ft 4in), the effective use of light and shadow,
and the perception of motion.

The painting has inspired musical works in both the classical and rock traditions, including the second
movement of Gustav Mahler's 7th Symphony.
Below is a painting which depicts another image of the title Night Watch.
