Armour
Minimum requirement s are a period helm (sallet, barbute, etc) and mail or steel (prefered)gauntlets. 18g minimum steel.
Padded body armour (padded jack/gambeson)
Plate armour is best.
Kee in mind it does take time to build up your harness so dont get discouraged.
(Before making a helm/armour purchase please check with us to make sure that it will be appropriate to what we do. there are many "replicas" out there that are sized too small or made incorrectly made too heavy (sca) or too light (decorator).
You should look for
armour made for reenactment combat. We also ahve folks who make basic armour
so get in touch and see if anyone can help you out as well.
Visit Castle Armoury if you are looking for good quality armour/weapons. It is made by david Woodward, founder of the BPAS.
Weapons
All weapons must
be made of high carbon/tempered steel. Be careful when looking for a good
sword. You want one that is made specifically for live steel full contact
combat. These have a higher quality of steel as well as a full tang to
prevent bending and breaking.
