About Us

In 2000, The Nighthawk Watch at Haverford College was started. Our founder was and still is an avid birder and, having counted nighthawks in Massachusetts, was able to use her experience to identify and count these birds. She was aided by the help of a few close friends who liked birds and by her husband. After a couple of years, our founder realized her location was great and she was counting many more nighthawks than many other birders. She invited people from the local bird club to come out and see the nighthawks.

Our coordinator sent our count data to Project Nighthawk. Sadly, Project Nighthawk has been discontinued. We are currently looking for a new database in which we can enter our count data.
