Lost & Found
This page is available for  animals that the ACO has picked up and need to find their homes. Unclaimed animals may end up for adoption after a holding period of 10 days.
Tips to protect your pets from accidents, escapes and theft:
  • Always have ID on your dog. We need ID if your dog is involved in an accident.
  • If your cat won't wear a collar, microchip him/her. We carry a scanner in the cruiser that checks for microchip implants.
  • Horses and livestock left out for extended periods should also have ID on their halters/collars or microchips in the event of an emergency after escape.
  • Always keep your animals vaccines current.
  • Keep a picture of all of your pets. If you have to make a flier or ID your pet a photo ID is necessary.

In some cases owners can forward a picture of their pet that they need to find a home for and we can place that on the adoptions area. The town of Norfolk, or any agents thereof, would not be held liable for third party postings.

For Adoption
Animals We've picked up. Either looking for their owners or on hold during their 10 day period before adoption.
Lost & Found
If you have a lost pet you can send your description and picture to the Animal Control Officer to be posted on the web page.
This area is also used to show residents what animals we have picked up during the day so that we may reunite them with their family.
If you lose a pet it's best to do the following:
  1. Have a picture of your animal that you lost
  2. contact your local ACO when the pet goes missing and report the pet lost along with a full description of the animal. Species, sex, color, collar, ID, vaccination history, name and temperament.
  3. E-mail the ACO a copy of the picture and information.
  4. Make fliers and post them throughout your neighborhood (best done within 36 hours of the animals disappearance).
  5. Call your neighbors and ask them to if they could keep a watchful eye out for your pet.
  6. Contact all local shelters and vets to make sure no one has turned your pet in.
  7. Most people wait to call in for a cat gone missing until it's too late. Calling us before the animal has been missing for 10 days may ensure safe return of your animal. You lose your rights of ownership for an animal if we have held it for more than ten days and we may adopt it out.
  8.  If you post a reward on a flier do not disclose the amount. Do not include your home address on a flier. It could lead to bogus calls and targeting by con artists.
  9. Do NOT place fliers inside mailboxes. That is a federal offense. You may however place them on the outside of a mailbox.
  10.  Do not wait days to report a cat missing.
  11. Check our site often. We will post new arrivals frequently.
  12. Strongly consider micro chipping your animals. If they are involved in an accident it allows the ACO an instantaneous way to identify your animal and contact you. If we do not know who owns a certain pet and they are injured, we are limited in the amount of care that pet may receive due to budgetary restrictions.

SCROLL DOWN FOR ADOPTIONS
My name is Indy!

I am just coming up on  3 months old and I am looking for the perfect home.  If there ever was a cat that was the mold for those black halloween cats with the arched up back~ That's me. I was born to a litter living outside and was trapped when I was  4 weeks old.

I'm looking for a family who will really help me bloom. I am a little shy (for about 15 seconds) and then if you pet me I purr, knead the ground, and arch my back.  I would prefer a house without small children and new owners who are willing to spend time socializing with me. I'm just at the point where I'm starting to seek attention instead of waiting for it to happen. I would enjoy a home with another cat or another animal that I can bond with.

I have been combo tested negative, dewormed, altered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Adoption Fee: 125.00

Favorite toy: rollie balls
We don't have names yet. We are related to MK.  We are still working on trusting humans and are not ready for adoption or pre adoption at this point.  Even though both of us girls are scared, we are learning to socialize and play.  When we are ready for adoption we have been combo tested, vaccinated, altered and dewormed. We will be available for adoption at 125.00 each.  Once we start showing our personalities I'm sure Hilary will give us great names.

Favorite toy: Laser Mouse
My name is Blackberry.

I am  about  6 months old and looking for a home. I am much more laid back than my sisters. I enjoy a good ear scratching and some petting but I will also be happy just hanging out on the couch.  I would like a calm environment with not a lot of hustle and bustle.  I am combo tested, vaccinated, dewormed, altered and mirco chipped.

My favorite toy : Cat nip toys and balls.

My adoption fee is $125.00. If you are looking to adopt more than one cat, I suggest Merlin my sister.  A group deal for both of us is 200.00
*Pre adoption:  You may pick your pet out before adoption availability but you may not take your pet home until they are of age. Of age means combo tested, vaccinated, health checked, altered, and microchipped.  If you do find a pet you absolutely love, you may apply ahead of time. If you are approved, you will also be able to come and visit your cat by appointments throughout the holding period. We want you to bond with your pet as often as possible. It will help the transition period later when you do get to take your pet home.
If you are interested in a pet and do not know how they will work out for different reasons~Please know that we will allow approved adopters to try out their pet for a reasonable time period and if it does not work out, return the pet.  We  want to make sure pets get the best placement and are also protected in the future.  If you have allergies or other pets this  allows you to "test drive" your new friend to make sure it will work out.
My name is Merlin.  My brother is Blackberry. I am a true blue love bug.  I have been combo tested, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and de wormed.  I am ready to be your house cat!

Adoption fee 125.00

If adopted with her brother both may be adopted for a total fee of $200.00
