Buddy's page:
Due to overwhelming response from all the animal lovers out there, here's Buddy's page. First and foremost I wish to thank the contributors.
I will be sending out thank you cards to each and every one of you that have supplied your name/address.
Buddy's Contributors:
I'm sorry that I had to take this list down. It was too much to maintain time wise. I can, however, tell you we are up to roughly 280 donors.

At this time if you'd like to donate to all animals at the shelter, we welcome that, but animal specific donations  may be returned. We've received such an overwhelming response to Buddy's situation that we have received what I believe enough aid to cover his first 3 months of care.

We will always welcome donations and they are tax deductible, but please in the memo section please leave it as animal gift account .  We will have to return checks to those who earmark it only for Buddy if we do collect too much.

Update at  11:45 11/11/08. Happy Veteran's Day.  Today Buddy had his surgery. He went through it really well. The surgery itself took twice as long as anticipated due to his injuries.  He may have to endure another surgery to remove some hardware after his initial healing.  We'll have to take this day by day.  Thank you to those who have contributed so far. Please stay tuned. We are most likely having a raffle this weekend to help raise more funds for Buddy and Popeye. Our fundraiser was initally slated for Popeye but due to Buddy's urgent needs, we added him into the fundraiswer as well. When I have more information on date and time I will post it :)

Watching the horses gallop and play outside while he's warm on his bed inside. 11/22. He's having a really hard time with his cone but we're helping him get through the next few days.
Looking for a thank you note?

The first batch (350+) will be leaving right after thanksgiving.  I plan to have all notes out (for cards/donations received up to 11/24) before christmas. If you do not receive one please email me  with your name, address, and I will add you on to the list.
11/25/08.  Another consult with his doc. He's out of his cone but he's still not stepping on his leg as he should at this point. He's back on pain meds and a follow up next week. Other than the innactivity with his leg, his spirits are high, and he's doing ok otherwise
On 12/5/08 There was a pre-trial conference held in relation to the neglect charges that were brought forward against Buddy's owner.  It was determined through a CWOF plea that Buddy will never go back into his prior home or environment.  Buddy is now legally forfeited to the Town of Norfolk. The prior owner is not allowed to own or harbor any animals during the probation period.  This part of the case has been handled. We are still looking for the actual person who beat Buddy with a baseball bat.  All of our leads have yielded no results.  Because this is a felony, the case will stay open until it is either solved or the statute of limitations runs out (ten years).  I want to thank Chris Charbeaneu of ARLB for helping us in this investigation.

Buddy still has a very long road of rehabilitation ahead of him and will be staying in our care until he is healed up physically and emotionally.

Thank you again for all your support and donations. It has made a HUGE difference to Buddy the dog.
1/19 Buddy had a second surgery two weeks ago. It was shown over the course of his rehab that all the pins that were placed in the knee to help it heal were actually interfering with normal joint function. So once the leg healed, the pins were removed.  Buddy is now making great strides in using his leg more and overall is showing that he feeling much better (by chewing us out of all of our posessions!). He has another follow up appointment tomorrow, and then some determinations will be made about the remainder of his care as well as adoption.
Buddy! You're a STAR! 2/14/09

Buddy had his final veterinary appointment this past week and he is ready to find his forever home.  Please drop an email if you are interested in potentially adopting him.  We will have strict requirements on who gets this lucky boy to help safeguard his future

This is what Buddy thought of last week. He went with me everywhere to try on some new families and was quite exhausted by the days end. We met some really great people last week.  Buddy fell in love with a family that had read the paper by chance the day that the story was published.  Buddy now has a dog brother to play with through the days and a  family that absolutely adores him.  This was one of the hardest adoptions for me. From where we started, to the signing of the adoption papers was a huge sucess story for the Bud Man.
