We take pride in transporting school children to and from school safely.
This also includes field trips and athletic trips that your child attends. It is important, as parents that you stress
to your child that at all times they must stay seated safely. This means in their seats facing forward, back to back
of seat, and always out of the aisle. The aisleway of a bus is considered an emergency exit and must stay clear of all
items at all times.
Another safety concern you should stress with your child is the use of the
hand rails of a bus when entering and exiting any school bus. Back packs need to be strapped on their shoulders so their
hands are free to use the railings. Large projects that require two hands to carry should be transported into school
by a parent. Sports equipment should be secured in a sports bag with a strap and carried in a manner that allows the
student to use the railing of the bus. Skateboards are not allowed on any Northwood Transportation buses. Seating
is limited, so please remember what is carried by your child must be able to fit in their laps or placed under the seat they
are sitting in.
The biggest concern my drivers are experiencing this year is the
volume on the buses. Try to picture yourself driving your own vehicle with your children, and 60 more!!!
Once one child talks loudly, the rest talk louder to hear one another. I am asking that
you explain to your children the distraction this causes and how their quiet ride will make it safe for all. "A
QUIET BUS...IS A SAFE BUS"
