What
is New Outlook Therapy?
New Outlook Therapy Promotes Mind/Body HealingNew Outlook Associates, Inc. -- a non-profit agency founded in 1984 -- has developed an innovative therapy in rehabilitation using the creative arts to foster mind/body healing. There has been much research substantiating that laughter, creativity, a positive attitude, and the will to live promote a release of endorphins to the brain which supports the immune system and promotes the healing process. Trained New Outlook therapists and volunteers work with patients in hospitals and rehab centers offering a "continuity of care" to the patients as they are discharged to complete their recuperation at home. This supportive therapy prevents feelings of isolation, despair, loneliness, and depression which tend to inhibit the progress of recovery. New Outlook Therapy encourages the patients to maintain a positive attitude, to keep a sense of self-worth, to elevate their spirits, and to retain a healthy new outlook on life. Those who are terminally ill keep a sense of dignity during a very difficult time. |
Innovative ProceduresOur procedures are individualized to meet the needs and abilities of each patient. The techniques, for example, used in adaptive watercolor painting provide a low-energy, non-toxic form of painting that is an effective form of therapeutic art and can offer an admirable experience from the start. Even patients who are bedridden or paralyzed, who cannot hold a brush in the classic art form, are able to gain a tremendous satisfaction from achieving what many term a "miracle painting"! These techniques have helped hundreds of people, most of whom resisted the initial attempt. New Outlook Therapy Includes:
