About Congregation Ohr Moshe

Ohr Moshe was founded in 1987 by R' Aryeh Z. Ginsberg a Talmud of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, in his basement. It was named LZ"N Rav Moshe Feinstein ZT"L who passed away the previous year. The Shul moved to its permanent quarters in 1994 where it remains today. In 2001 Rabbi Asher Schechter took over the leadership of the Shul. In 2003 the Shul welcomed Keren Ohr PreSchool which laid out the funds to renovate the downstairs for a playroom for children. The downstairs is suitable for use as a Simcha Room and a meeting room as well. The renovations also added 20 more seats to our Shul which now seats 160 at full capacity.

Our Shul was established as a Yeshiva Style Minyan. The Minhagim and practices are similar to that of a Yeshiva. We Daven Ashkenaz and we maintain absolute decorum during Davening & Kriyas HaTorah. Our Gabbai recites the Misheberach for Tzahal and the Tefila for the U.S. Govt. and troops every Shabbos & Yom Tov and we recite special Tehillim on Shabbos for Achenu Bais Yisrael. We are proud of our Friday Night Dvar Halacha, daily Daf Yomi Shiur and Shacharis Minyan, our Shabbos afternoon Chabura (learning Meseches Shabbos) and the informative Shiurim given by our Rav and other guest lecturers.

Our Kehilla is a warm and friendly group that enjoys socializing after davening and at the many events organized through the Shul. We have a very active Nshei Ohr Moshe with Shiurim and Chesed programs for our Ladies. We are proud of our communal Shabbos meals that we run from time to time, our playgroup for children to occupy them during Davening, our Chesed Committee, and many other activities and events going on within our Shul community.

Please contact us if you would like more information, or would like to spend a Shabbos with us.
