Our best customer is an educated customer

I'm not an expert for tasting and rating wines, even though I have taste and knowledge about European wines, it's still not enough to responsibly say what wine is good or better just because I like it or dislike it.

There are guys with many years of education and they know why is this wine better than others, they are more than wine drinkers and wine lovers. They are the experts they can taste year, type of grapes used, some of them can taste the exact region of territory where this grapes are grown. They can taste sun, rain and soil in the wine. They are tasting just numbered glasses of wine without any preferences and knowledge what kind wine they are tasting. In Europe is also difference between times of harvest , some farmers waiting until first frost and grapes looks like ugly raisins , and than is added Kabinet or late crop into the name of the wine. This is little risky for farmers because there isn't always better wine and they can lose all crop.

There is much more than some sweetness , acidity and tannins what all amateurs can feel.
Unbelievable but true.

This way you can buy high quality wine from winery what you never heard. For example  you can enjoy better wine from Czech republic because there was weather just perfect for this type of grapes, than from the best of the best French wines just because there was really bad weather in same year, So they might be same retail price because of the name of winery, but quality should be foolish.

Also be careful, when you buying rated wine, look if the year match the year what is rated, I've seen some retailers in New York, who were selling rated wine , but it was rated year before or after the year what they were selling, means they trying to sell wine, because it WAS rated when it WAS good wine , it doesn't mean that year before or year later it was the same wine / it might be but usually won't be.

I'm using the Wine Spectator because I've got subscription of this magazine that's why I know their tasters for rating are from all over the world. There are more magazines with rated wines what I cannot recommend  because I'm not sure about it.
