Olney Kehila is a vibrant, independent, inclusive Jewish congregation
in Olney, Maryland, whose mission is to provide a religious school
and a strong and supportive community that celebrates Jewish traditions,
customs and culture. Congregants from all backgrounds are welcomed
with warmth and respect.
Olney Kehila recognizes that Judaism is a blend of religious and
social practices that have evolved across time and geography. With
our members representing varied traditions and beliefs, we strive
to observe and present Judaism in a way that is joyful and meaningful
for all. We gather as a community to celebrate Shabbat, Jewish holidays,
and life cycle events, with active participation and leadership by
community members of all ages. We seek to understand and maintain
the richness of Jewish tradition in a way that is meaningful and relevant
for our lives today.
