Goal: Facilitate peer-to-peer microlending that supports the efforts of entrepreneurs in the developing world.

By early 2008, with the help of 250,000 lenders and 97 field partners, Kiva had disbursed more than $22 million in loans across 40 countries. The organization plans to loan $100 million by 2010 and expects to reach the $1 billion mark within a decade.
