"Little Red Firetrucks In Heaven"
Are there little red firetrucks in heaven?
I would hope to believe it is so,
for in the tragedy of losing our children
the Lord welcomes them home I know.
I remember a small boy at Christmas,
his eyes lit up from a gift received,
and there's no way any of us thought
that soon for this child we would grieve.
The child had opened the present with wonder,
it was a little red firetruck to play,
and you could see the magic of Christmas itself,
on the boy's face with beaming display.
I will never ever forget the image
of this child playing on the floor innocent,
and it pains me to know the child is now gone,
though it's to a better place that he went.
Today I see tears for this fine little boy,
a child I myself barely even knew,
the only memory I have is of that one Christmas
and a little red firetruck all new.
Though there is nothing that I could ever say
to ease his family and parent's sad pain,
still I offer these following thoughts to the world
and pray that you feel the same:
We must not grieve over this tragedy forever
we must look with hope to our Lord and give praise,
for he took a small boy into his heavenly care,
and it's there with jesus that he now plays;
and so when I ask myself about such tragedies
that befall children, this one barely over seven,
I feel in my heart and it brings me comfort to know
there's little red firetrucks in heaven...
