"Her Favorite Drug"

Every time she gets to craving her favorite drug
She crawls into her dark corner to pray
Where the spider weaves its web around her
Saying "I know what can take it away"

The unseen monsters that lay in wait
Chatter like monkeys on her back
And she wants to scream, "Leave me alone"
But her tongue has turned dry and black

This is her nightmare, wasting away
Where childhood heroes won't dwell
She longs for her knight, shining illusion
But can't ever escape from her hell

And on a shelf inside the cupboard
The bottle of alcohol says to the pills
"Look at her try hard to be someone else"
But they both know she never will

She climbs in the closet away from the pain
Trying to ignore the blood on the rug
Razor bladed mistress leaving a trail
From her misery to her favorite drug
