"Jennifer Renee Short Memorial Bridge"

To some it seems an ordinary bridge
With a double yellow center line,
A stretch of cracked asphalt in the county
That people drive all the time;
Beneath the bridge a creek bed
With a stream shallow and clear,
As it flows into the wildflowers
That can be found in thickets here.

It seems like such a peaceful place
Where the time seems to stand still,
Where lovers could walk hand in hand
Or fishermen could cast their reel;
But today the quiet is broken
By the strains of "Amazing Grace",
150 souls stand to reflect
On a little girl with a smiling face.

Flowers and bunnies placed at the railing
Stuffed animals and cards,
For those who have to go on living
Today the tears come fast and hard;
Almost two years ago today
It was here her remains were found,
A 9 yr old who never hurt anyone
Left dead on the cold, cold ground.

To some it may seem an ordinary bridge
With a double yellow center line,
Down an ordinary little road
Over a creek that gently winds;
But she was no ordinary girl
Her short life has touched many hearts,
And it's here on this bridge today
The healing finds its start.
