US-ASIA INSTITUTE

The US-Asia Institute, founded in 1979, is a private, nongovernmental organization devoted to fostering understanding, and strengthening ties between the people and governments of the U.S. and Asia.  Through conferences, exchanges, symposiums and publications, the US-Asia Institute promotes the examination of economic, political, cultural and strategic issues vital to U.S.-Asia relations.  The Institute prides itself on giving voice to the broadest spectrum of viewpoints, and for hosting small off-the-record gatherings of American and Asian officials, business and academic leaders, providing invaluable opportunities for frank discussion and a candid exchange of views.

The Board of Trustees of the Institute encourages the participation of all Americans interested in Asia in this process.  The Institute is unique in that its leadership includes Asian Americans, who have a special perspective and understanding of the ever-increasing interaction between the United States and Asia.
