THE ROLE OF A COMMITTEEPERSON

In Trenton, each election district is represented by a committeeman and a committeewoman. These officials are elected every two years and are listed on the primary election ballot.

The committeepeople are the backbone of the Democratic Party. They get to vote for officials that serve on the city and county Democratic committees. They help register voters in their district and can furnish absentee ballots to voters who need them. Most importantly they are local political activists who can take your concerns to higher-level elected officials on the city, county and state level. So if you have a problem or concern do not hesitate to contact them. They are there to serve you!
