Membership Opportunities and Obligations
Members participate in all the operations of the School.

Fundraising
Each family is required to contribute the equivalent of $200 in fundraising during the school year. Members fulfill this obligation in various ways:
  • work at a fundraising event such as a bake sale or an auction
  • buy gift wrap or other fundraising items
  • buy grocery certificates at School (when you buy a $50 gift card for Giant, the School gets $2.50)
  • make a direct contribution to the School
  • combine two or more of the above
Housekeeping
Each family is responsible for the general maintenance and cleaning of the school. There are three School clean-ups during the year, in August, February, and June. Each family must work a two-hour shift at each of these. In addition, each family must do one month of weekly "take home" work such as washing toys or dress-up clothes.

Committees
Each family is required to take on one job in the operation of the school. Many hands make light work! Families can assist with publicity, planning, scheduling, events, shopping, record keeping, and many other jobs. Committee responsibilities are determined and selected at the June membership meeting.

Classroom Staffing
Families can help staff the classrooms on a rotating basis, keeping our adult to child ratio excellent. This is a wonderful opportunity to see your child interact at School, to get to know your child's classmates, and to participate in the basic function of the School. Classroom shifts are about three hours. Families who choose not to volunteer in the classrooms pay a higher tuition rate.

For all classes, full co-op means that you will work two or three times a month depending on class size and number of classes per month. Limited co-op, all classes, means you'll work once a month. Non co-op means that you are not obligated to volunteer in the classroom. We limit the number of non co-oping families to one third of the class.

Parent Education
Another opportunity of membership in the co-op is parent education. Twice a year, in fall and spring, we invite speakers to address us on early childhood topics.

Mandatory Meetings
June: Parent orientation and committee assignments
August: Parent orientation/back-to-school
March: Membership meeting; elect new board; vote on budget.
