We're so glad to be wrapping up the school/scouting/church/etc. year.
The children have done pretty well in school but we're all ready for summer fun.
Everyone in the family is looking forward to our vacation next month in Kentucky.
We'll be meeting Grandpa Edward and Grandma Carol (Ed's dad and stepmon) and Grammy and Poppa (Peggy's parents) for a week
in "Cave Country" visiting caves, seeing Australian animals, swimming in the hotel pool and generally relaxing and having
fun.
Audrey is hooked on the Redwall series now and just spent almost eight month's allowance
buying the first TWELVE books. If you're not familiar with them, it's a wonderful fantasy series with a semi-medieval
setting and animal characters - mice, rates, badgers, beavers, etc.
Rose is making steady progress with her school work. She's homeschooling this year,
largely on her own. Ed is helping her stay on track and understand Algebra 1. We found an amusing site for learning
math and science through interactive "gizmos" that demonstrate concepts. The website is
.
Ed and Peggy had their 20th wedding anniversary in May and are getting new wedding
rings to celebrate. We wanted a special symbol for our commitment and found a craftsman who ties nautical knots in gold,
silver or platinum wire and makes them into lovely jewelry.
As usual, it takes a grid to keep everyone's summer schedule straight and we're still ironing
out details. Ben will be at several very active camps this summer; Rose and Audrey will be visiting grandparents and
going to Girl Scout Camp; and the whole family is looking forward to our pool membership and some family vacation time.
