This page will provide a brief overview to the changes that must be made to the PV2 Camera for use in KAP. The details of these changes are spelled-out at CVS PV2 Red Mods. This link contains excellent step- by-step instructions and clear photos.
Overview of the PV2 Modifications:
Construct a custom cable to connect the PV2 Camera to your
computer’s USB port using a USB cable and a connector from a
parallel printer cable.
Download, and run the necessary software (available at the link
above). These programs enable your PC to recognize the PV2 camera,
unlock it, and modify its firmware to enable you to download the
stored photos to your PC.
Open the PV2 camera and temporarily short two PCB traces. This is
necessary to unlock the camera's firmware.
Apply a firmware patch to enable the PV2 to do continuous shooting
at a predetermined interval (e.g., 1 minute). The details of this patch
can be found at the Camerahacks Forum. The software tools used to
perform the patch are the same as those shown in the CVS PV2 Red
link, above.
