The camera cradle is constructed using two 1/16th inch thick aluminum strips that are 1-1/4 inches wide. Click on the diagram on the left for more details. The holes on the left side of the top and bottom brackets are for a screw and wing nut. This allows the bottom bracket to pivot which permits the camera to take photos at various angles to the ground. I used an electrical binding post instead of the wing nut to hold the bottom bracket to the top bracket because it was light weight and available.
The suspension will attach to the cradle via a hole to be drilled in the top bracket. Care must be exercised to determine the center of gravity of the camera and cradle combination when determining where to drill the hole otherwise the cradle and camera will be tilted with respect to the ground. Also, keep in mind that weight of the camera is not evenly distributed. The left side of the camera which contains the batteries is heavier than the right side.
The photo on the left shows the PV2 camera mounted on its cradle and all padded-up with some scrap foam padding and three rubber bands.
