Suspension Page
The suspension chosen for the PV2 camera is a classic Picavet "X" shaped configuration that will hold the strings that attach the suspension to the kite.
A screw extends to the bottom of the suspension and attaches to the upper bracket of the camera cradle (not shown).
The suspension consists of two five inch cross pieces made from 3/4 inch wood stock and a 3/4 inch wooded spacer block made from the same material. Four small metal eyelets are screwed into the ends and the two crosspieces and the spacer block are held together with 3/16 inch screw and wing nut.

The next photo down shows the camera mounted on the cradle and the cradle attached to the suspension. Note the nylon ring above the suspension crosspieces. It's used to prevent the suspension from twirling. Two more rings (not shown) connect the eight string segments at the top. The KAPER site provides an excellent description showing how to thread the Picavet's four eyelets and three rings using a single strand of string. For my suspension
each strand measures 3.5 feet so I needed a 28 foot length of string.
Finally, the two rings at the top are attached to a pair of "hang-ups" these small wooden devices designed by Brooks Leffler. These measure about 1-3/4 inch x 1 inch and enable the suspension and camera to be easily connected and disconnected to or from the kite string without the necessity of having to tie and untie knots to accomplish this. Click on the thumbnail titled hang-up to see a photo of this device. Each split metal ring (I used a car key ring) is attached via a hole in the center of the hang-up. The kite string is looped around the channels in the hang-up to prevent the suspension and camera from slipping down the kite string.
