John P. Forde obituary

Jamaica Plain News, Saturday June 18, 1898

John P. Ford [sic], an old and well known resident of Jamaica Plain, died Sunday, June 5, in Seattle, State of Washington., the direct cause of his death being inflamation of the bowels. He had been in business in this section for a number of years, having at one time conducted the West Roxbury Advertiser, which lived something over two years. Later he dealt in real estate, until a short while ago when he left here for Seattle to go into business.

He was born in [illegible] and was 55 years of age. A widow and four children survive him. Tuesday evening, the local A. O. U. W. took action on his death, and at the funeral, held Friday morning at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roxbury, a delegation attended. The pall bearers were chosen from this delegation. Solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated, and the interment was at Mr. Benedict.

People in the East may imagine that it would be an easy matter to accomplish a task of this kind, but I wish to assure your readers that it involved a lot of hard work, but Mr. Taylor proved equal to the occasion, and in this work he was ably assisted by his companions, Messrs. F. L. Barnard and W. W. Sanborn. Mar Taylor has called in... [rest of clipping is missing]
