The S.S.R.N. Seaview, commissioned by the Navy and operated by the Santa Barbara based Nelson Institute , is the most advanced atomic submarine of her kind. Her unique glass observation nose and high tech/state of the art marine equipment make her the ideal choice for encountering unusual phenomena on the high seas. She is captained by Lee Crane, one of the most respected U.S. Navy submariners. Along with Crane, the creator of the sub himself, genious Admiral Harriman Nelson sail the high seas in search of adventure and discovery!
Well this all sounds great, but like so many Irwin Allen productions, Voyage made a hard right rudder in mid-run and headed to the bottom of the writing seas. By the third season we were encountering grumpy Leprechauns, ghostly sea captains, weekly alien invasions, lost time travelers, and a whole assortment of rubber monsters who were also moonlighting on Irwin Allen's Lost in Space".
Since the creation of The Irreverent Guide to Lost in Space it was only a matter of time before the Seaview would be boarded and the same thing happen to that program... my reviews of this unintentionally funny show!
So strap yourself into the Flying Sub, make sure your tray tables are in the upright and locked positions and head with me to great heights (or depths) of yet another fantastic contribution to Irwin Allen network television.
