Northeastern Engineering Labs

Welcome to the new NEL website. This webpage is designed to give you the who, what, and where information about Northeastern Engineering Labs.

What is NEL?

NEL is, obviously, the acronym of Northeastern Engineering Labs. NEL was founded in 1981 as a sole proprietorship, filed with the Herkimer County Clerk's office in the State of New York. It's primary purpose was to provide a business tax entity for the owner when he was actively engaged in consultant computer test engineering endeavors back in the early 80's. It has no employee's except the owner. It was never an intended purpose to develop the company into an employer. Essentially, anywhere in this website where you see the term NEL, you can easily substitute 'I', or 'me' for it, depending on the case needed. Either way, they would refer only to the proprietor.

This isn't a deception. Rather, it is like keeping an old friend alive. The NEL name took the proprietor through many stages of his life and he's kind of gotten used to using it in any technical pursuit.

Where is NEL located?

You can't find NEL anywhere. It has no big sign out in front of a large manufacturing plant or research facility. It has no vehicles with its logo on the sides. It exists only on paper for Tax purposes. Currently, the company works directly out of the proprietor's home.

What is the purpose of this website?

The author of NEL is about ready to retire. This website is meant to provide him with a viable means to spend his retirement time without getting bored to death. Besides, it might even make him a buck or two with the unshrouded version of NEL_32, but that is not a main goal. If the project earns enough just to keep the website alive, that will be more than sufficient.

The main goal here is to help others learn how to program the Windows operating system using the Win32 API and Euphoria language. They are both incredible pieces of software that can provide amateur, as well as professional programmers with hours, upon hours of satisfying time in exercising their imaginations and creativity. There is no human technology in existence that can compare with reaching into one's own mind to form new concepts. The longer one programs a computer, the more he knows about himself, as a digital program is nothing more than an extension of the throught processes of those who programmed it. How can it be any less?

Thus, the more complicated your programs become, the more imaginative and complex you become, as you are learning to fine tune your thought processes to perform tasks in the most efficient manner humanly possible.

It is for this very reason that so many of us get 'hung up', so to speak, in programming. In today's world, our computer is the one place where we can always go to expect a logical conclusion to a logical set of events. All one has to do is view a main stream media nightly news report to understand that our world does not act in logical manner. As a result, our world is going to hell in a handbasket, and it just seems to be getting worse on a daily basis.

The author of this site firmly believes that those who will take charge of the future, and find a way out of our current global predicament will be those people who have the capacity to understand who, and what they are. They will think in a logical fashion, where cause and event situations are not countered by illogical motivations. In other words, unlike our Local, State and national Politicians, they will use their minds for constructive ideologies, not for something that is as elementary as a hat rack.

However, to do this, one must be using a program language that enhances this purpose, not detract from it. C programmers, like assembler programmers, must think more about the language syntax, and hundreds of symbols they must use than they can for the actual program they are writing. The simplicity of Euphoria has no complexities like other languages, and it allows the programmer to use his intellect in the most efficient way possible. Eventually, you'll find yourself performing near miracles using very little effort. When you've reached that point, you'll be ready to join an elite group who will take on the entire world.

Who knows? Perhaps the person who will save this planet might just be a Euphoria programmer who has learned the difference between right and wrong, moral and immoral, and ethical and unethical. It's obvious that the rest of this stupid world doesn't seem to know the difference. In this regard, the author of this site sincerely hopes you can learn to do so while there is still time to make a difference.
