



The American Legion Riders
Motocycle Association
By Laws
I. Membership: There are two requirements for membership (You
must meet both A & B).
A. A current member of the American Legion, Auxiliary or Sons of the American
Legion.
B. You must own a motorcycle of at least 350cc in size or be the Legal spouse
of
an owner who is an ALR Association member.
C. Chapters, at their own discretion, may allow "supporting members"
or "chapter
supporters". The supporting type memberships do not constitute actual
membership in the American Legion Riders. These memberships are of a
nature as to provide recognition to those who show strong support to the
individual American legion Riders Chapter. These supporting members must
still meet the requirements of Section 1A and be current members of the
American Legion, Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion. Furthermore all
articles of clothing that contain the American Legion Riders emblem should
contain the words "I support" or "Supporter". Also see requirements

III Elections
A. Election of chapter officers will be held annually. Nominations will be taken
at the November and December Meetings and Elections will be held after the closing
of nominations at the December meeting.
Elected Officers will take office as of the January meeting following the elections.
B. When two or more Chapters exist in a State (Department) the practices of
that Department will prevail for the naming of state officers. If the Department
wishes to impose no practice, then State Officers will be named by a manner
that is in agreement between the involved Chapters.
IV. Duties of Association Chapter Officers
A. Director: Will serve as Chief Administrative Officer of the Association and
will preside over all meetings. He shall have general supervision over the
affairs of the Association. He shall perform such other duties as directed by
the general membership.
B. Assistant Director: Will assume the duties of the Director in his absence.
Will
assist the Director in the performance of his duties when called on to do so
by
the Director.
C. Secretary: To keep a full and correct record of all proceeding at the meetings.
Keep membership records as may be required by the general membership. The
Secretary should also give detailed minutes at each regular meeting.
D. Treasurer: To have charge of all finances of the Association. To have charge
of disbursing funds as directed by the general membership. To give detailed
financial reports at each regular meeting. (Copies will be furnished to the
sponsoring Post if requested)
E. Sgt at Arms/ Run Coordinator: Will be the logistics person in charge of organized
runs of the Association, He/she will determine dates, times, routes and meeting
places for those taking part in a run activity. He may, at his discretion, appoint
assistant road captains or take any other measures he may feel necessary to
help insure the safety of the group during a run. Will also help to maintain
order during chapter meetings.
V, Meetings
A. Meetings will be held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Freeland American
Legion Post 473 Starting at 8:30 p.m.
VI. Finances
A. Finances of each Association Chapter will be from Association membership
dues or such other sources, as approved by the membership.
Treasurer will collect and record all Association Funds.
Yearly Renewals will be due by the February Meeting of each year. The dues For
each year will be $20.00 and in the event a new memberjoins during any Part
of a year they will still be required to pay the full $20.00 amount.
Disbursement of fluids will only be authorized at a chapter meeting and in a
Manner that is in keeping with all state, local, and national laws regarding
non-Profit organizations. Two Officers signatures will be required on a check.
In the event this Riders Group disbands any and all fluids in the Treasury Become
the property of the Freeland American Legion Post 473.
VII. Expulsion
A. Any member may be expelled or suspended from the Association by a majority
vote of the general membership at a regular Chapter meeting. For conduct unbecoming
a member.
Examples, excessive drinking or drugs, etc NO FIREARMS and NO ATTITUDES!!
VIII. Charter Membership
A, Charter Membership will be for anyone qualified who joins the ALR POST 473
And does so on or before the April 2006 meeting.
IX. Residency
A. Each Chapter will be known by the state in which its majority of members
reside. Chapters may be further broken down in to District and Post.
X. Governing Rules
A. Each State Chapter may elect to adopt a set of standing rules to govern its
Membership or, at the Chapters discretion, amend these by-laws. These standing
rules, or by-law amendments, shall be no less stringent than those contained
in these by-laws nor can they be in any conflict with the National Constitution
and by-laws of the American Legion, Department or that of the Sponsoring Post.
XL Amendments
A. These by-laws may be amended at any regular meeting by vote of two thirds
of the members Present provided the proposed amendment has been submitted in
writing and read at the Preceding chapter meeting.
A. Disbursement of funds will be only those authorized at any regular meeting
of the Chapter. Each Chapter will be a non-profit organization and may only
disburse fimds in a manner that is in keeping with all local, state and national
laws regarding non-profit organizations.
XII. Order
A. All meetings will be conducted under "Roberts Rules of Order".
AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS VEST AND JACKET
Section 1. Members shall be authorized to wear the American Legion Riders shoulder
patch on a vest or jacket, if wearing both patches on the same garment the shoulder
patch can be worn on the right or left breast, below the American Flag.
Section 2. A rocker patch may be worn under the Riders Back Patch, indicating
the Chapter City and Post Number Example: ( Freeland Post 473) and sewn together
as a single patch.
Section 3. Patches are available and will be sold to the members of the American
legion Riders. They will be available for purchase from an officer of the riders
at the post.
Section 4. All patches ordered from National Emblem Sales or Department will
read PENNSYLVANIA.
Section 5. Members should have a POW/MIA patch on the right or left side of
the vest or jacket.
Section 6. Other pins and patches may be worn on the front of the vest or jacket.
Not on the back. Just the rider patch and your rockers. (PLEASE DO NOT WEAR
OFFENSIVE PATCHES). Use discretion! If the American Flag is worn by its self
it should be the highest pin/patch on the shoulder or left side.
Section 7. No property patches. Please keep in mine this is the American Legion
and we are not a bike club. We are a motorcycle association who like to ride
motorcycles and to be with are veterans and their family.
