The C.W.R.K. car club was established during the winter of "2004". Two couples, Jim & Julie Hornung and Jay & Bonnie
Heidl started talking about putting together a new car club and with a few inquiries, found a small group of car NUTS who
wanted to be involved.
That small group was made up of the Hornungs and Heidl's, Chuck Reynolds, Clay Weber, Chris Guillaume, Greg Streveler,
Keith Letarski, Gary Malak, Bob Heinrich and Bill Prinz, began meeting at Gulliver's Restaurant. The club became an L.L.C.
with Jim Hornung as the first president and the ground work was begun.
The club's name was chosen from the archive history of one of Wausau's first car clubs, the Road Knight's, which was started
during the mid "1950's" that hung out at what as known as the Boulevard Cafe' ( a local kids soda shop hang out). Two of our
current members, Sonny Neitzel (who was one of their founders) and Bob Heinrich (who later joined), were members of that fist
Road Knight's group. The new Central Wisconsin Road knights name was decided on to include car emthusiats from all around
the area, not just Wausau. The club logo was designed by Cody Gorski, the son of one of our earlier members.
The club's first meetings were held at various area spirit vending establishments and eventually set up the present club
house at the Palm's Supper Club. C.W.R.K.'s metings are held on the second Wednesday of every month with a 6:00 social time
and a 6:30 business meeting.
From it's simple beginning. the Central Wisconsin Road Knights club has grown to it's current 86 family membership and
21 corporate sponsors. It continues it's original theme of being a family oriented organization that gives car entusiasts
the opportunity to share good times and show off their pride and joy cars & trucks.
