AUGUST 15 - PROGRESS WITH A DELAY

THE WORK THIS WEEKEND DID NOT START AS PLANNED.  AT 9AM ON SATURDAY, ALL WE HEARD IS...

"YOU GOT THE HOUSE"

FROM THERE, WORK ON THE CAR WENT DOWN HILL

HERE IS THE NEW STABLE FOR THE PINTO

NOW ON WITH THE UPDATE....

WE STARTED BY REMOVING THE VALVE COVERS TO SEE HOW BAD IT WAS AND ONLY FOUND THAT ONE OF THE LIFTERS HAD SHIFTED OFF OF THE SPRING.  DONT KNOW HOW, DONT WANT TO KNOW HOW, JUST KNOW THAT IT DID.  



WE THEN CONTINUED TO CLEAN THE VALVE COVERS AND DECIDED TO PAINT THEM AN ANODIZED GREEN TO MATCH THE REST OF THE CAR'S THEME.  AT FIRST, WE DID NOT LIKE THE FINISH THAT WAS LEFT BY THE PAINT, BUT AFTER 1/2 HOUR, THEY LOOKED MUCH BETTER.  THE COVER ON THE LEFT IS FRESHLY PAINTED, THE COVER ON THE RIGHT IS HOW IT LOOKS WHEN DRIED.  IT HAS A COOL EFFECT WHEN IN THE SUNLIGHT.



WE ALSO PAINTED THE COVER TO THE TRANSMISSION TO MATCH THE ENGINE (MORE TO FINISH IT SO IT WOULD NOT RUST)
LAST, WE ALSO CLEANED AND PAINTED  THE OILPAN THAT WE WILL USE FOR THE ENGINE.





THE LOOK OVERALL IS NICE.  ENGINE BLOCK WILL BE "RACING GREEN " (LOOKS BRITISH RACING GREEN TO US) AND THE VALVE COVERS WILL BE AN ANODIZED GREEN.  WE ARE UNDICIDED ABOUT THE INTAKE.  IT MAY JUST GET BEAD BLASTED AND SEALED, OR WE MAY PAINT IT TO MATCH OR CONTRAST THE REST OF THE ENGINE.

NEXT WE NEED TO REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION AND CHECK THE CLUTCH, PAINT THE BLOCK, GET NEW BOLTS FOR THE MAINIFLODS AND START THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS.  I AM HOPING TO HAVE THE ENGINE IN THE CAR AND RUNNING BEFORE WE MOVE, BUT THAT COULD BE IMPOSSIBLE WITH THE SCHEDULES WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH.  I WOULD SETTLE FOR THE ENGINE BEING IN THE CAR.
