WHILE I WAS ON VACATION,  CHRIS TOOK DON AND ROBERT (NEW OWNER OF THE PINTO DRIVETRAIN) TO THE RECKING YARD AND THEY FOUND A 3RD MEMBER TO GO WITH THE REAR END I PURCHASED FROM A MEMBER ON FORDPINTO.COM .  THE RATIO FOR THE REAR END IS 2.78:1.  NEXT WEEK, WE WILL TRY TO FIT IT ON THE CAR.


THIS IS THE ENGINE CODE FROM THE 82 MUSTANG GT.  I NEED TO RESEARCH THE BLOCK TO SEE IF IT IS A 302CI HO LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE.  SOME PARTS OF THE ENGINE DO NOT SEEM TO BE THE HO, BUT OTHER PARTS DO.  AFTER WE FINISH THE RESEARCH, WE WILL DETERMINE IF WE WILL CONTINUE WITH THIS BLOCK OR THE OTHER ONE.

THIS IS THE ENGINE CODE  FROM THE 84 TBIRD THAT WE REMOVED FROM MY DADS HOUSE A FEW MONTHS BACK.  WE TORE IT DOWN A WHILE AGO AND WE ARE WAITING TO SEE IF WE ARE GOING TO USE IT OR NOT.  IF WE ARE NOT, WE WILL REBUILD IT AFTER THE PINTO IS DONE INCASE THE 302HO ENGINE  HAS AN ISSUE. AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE USED.

THIS IS AFTER WE REMOVED THE OIL PAN, WATER PUMP AND PULLEYS.  WE STILL NEED TO REMOVE THE PULLEY.

 
WE MADE A QUICK RUN TO THE AUTOPARTS STORE AND RENTED A PULLER FOR THE PULLEY.  AFTER A FEW TRIES WITH SETUP, WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT TO REMOVE THE PULLEY. (THE PICTURE SHOULD BE TURNED 1/4 TURN CCW)


AFTER THE PULLEY WAS REMOVED WE WERE ABLE TO REMOVE THE TIMING COVER AND LOOK AT THE TIMING CHAIN.  IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE, BUT I WILL BE ABLE TO TELL ONCE I GET THE CODE DECIPHERED ON THE ENGINE BLOCK.  FOR THE REBUILD, WE HAVE A REBUILD KIT THAT INCLUDES RINGS, BEARINGS AND A COMPLETE SET OF GASKETS.  I AM REQUESTING STICKERS FROM ALL OF THE SUPPLIERS SO WE CAN PUT THEM ON THE SIDE WINDOWS TO SHOW WHO SUPPLIED THE PARTS WE USED.
