RUNNING THE FUEL LINES FROM THE FRONT TO THE CELL IN THE BACK
UNFORTUNATELY, WE INSTALLED THE LINES IN A WAY THAT THEY WILL NEED TO BE
CROSSED TO CONNECT THEM TO THE FUEL CELL. WE WILL ADDRESS THIS AFTER
THE CONTEST.
DOUG SANDING DOWN THE REAR HATCH GETTING IT READY FOR PAINT.
WHILE SANDING, DOUG FOUND THE ORIGINAL LOCATION OF THE PINTO EMBLEM. WE
PLAN ON PAINTING THE CAR NEXT WEEKEND IF THE CAR IS RUNNING. IF IT
IS NOT RUNNING, WE MAY JUST PAINT THE BODY AS IT IS AND DEAL WITH IT LATER.
HEADERS ARE FROM A 98 FORD EXPLORER / MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. SUPPRISINGLY
ENOUGH, THEY WERE ABLE TO FIT WITH OUT CUTTING OR DENTING THE FENDER WELLS.
YOU CAN SEE THAT THE PIPE HAS PLENTY OF CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE EXIT
AND THE FRAME
YOU CAN ALSO SEE THE CLEARANCES BETWEEN THE FENDERS AND THE HEADERS
THE DRIVER SIDE EXITS STRAIGHT OUT THE FRONT AND IT WILL TAKE TURN
UNDER THE CAR BELOW THE FUEL PUMP
THE TOP STUD IS THE ONE WE FIXED. WE WERE ABLE TO USE A SECOND BOLT
AND PUT IT OVER THE ONE THAT STRIPED. WE WERE ABLE TO TORQUE IT DOWN
TO THE PROPER SPECIFICATIONS.
HERE ARE THE FUEL LINES COMPLETED. THE 1/2" LINES WERE TIGHT, BUT WILL
BE OK FOR THE CONTEST. WE WILL FIND A WAY TO RUN 3/8 THE WHOLE WAY
DOWN THE CAR OR DO BRAIDED LINES.
FINAL INSTALLATION OF THE CARB PRIOR TO TEST STARTING THE ENGINE. ONE
OF THE GREY ITEMS WE HAD TO CHANGE WAS THE CARB. INSTEAD OF INSTALLING
THE 4 BARREL EDELBROCK WE GOT FROM A SCRAP PILE AND WERE REBUILDING, WE HAD
TO USE THE ORIGINAL 2 BARREL CARB FROM THE MUSTANG. UNFORTUNATELY,
THIS REQUIRED AN ADAPTOR THAT WAS NOT COMPLETELY MEANT FOR THIS APPLICATION.
WITH THE USE OF THE SUPPLIED SCREWS, A DREMEL AND A TUBE OF HI TEMP
SILICONE, WE WILL BE ABLE TO USE A 2 BARREL CARB ON A 4 BARREL MANIFLOD FOR
NOW. WE WILL PUT THE 4 ON WHEN WE GET BACK
WITH THE CARB INSTALLED, WE WERE ABLE TO CUT THE HOOD TO LOCATE THE HOOD
SCOOP LATER.
WITH THE HOLE CUT, WE SEE THAT TEH HOOD SCOOP WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS
CARB. THE 4 BARREL WILL SIT ABOUT AN INCH LOWER AND SHOULD FIT
WITH THE SCOOP.
HERE IS MOST LIKELY HOW WE WILL RUN THE CONTEST. A LARGE GREEN FILTER
ON THE TOP OF THE HOOD WITH THE HOLE BEING FORM FITTING TO THE FILTER AND
ALLOWING FOR ENGINE MOVEMENT.

THE PROPER PLUG WIRES SINCE THE ONES I GOT WERE FOR A GALAXIE AND THIS ONE
IS FROM THE MUSTANG.
HERE IS THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE THAT I HAD TO WIRE INTO OUR SYSTEM. FORTUNATELY,
A NEIGHBOR WHO RECENTLY REBUILT AN OLDER BRONCO HAD A MANUAL FOR A NEW WIRING
HARNESS AND IT ALSO HAD A TROUBLE SHOOTING DIAGRAM WITH THE MODULE. I
WAS ABLE TO USE IT AND PROPERLY WIRED THE CAR UP.
PROOF WE ARE CLOSE, I AM PUTTING OIL INTO THE ENGINE PRIOR TO STARTING IT.
BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS DIFFERENT, WE STILL USED THE PINTO THROTTLE CABLE AND
CUT APPART THE MUSTANG CABLE AND PUT THE TWO TOGETHER USING HOSE CLAMPS.
THIS WILL ALLOW A DIFFERENT CONFIGURATION ONCE WE PUT THE PROPER CARB
INSTALLED.
FINAL INSTALLATION OF THE DASH COVER AND INSERTS TO CLOSE UP ALL OF THE HOLES.
WE WILL STILL PAINT THE DASH PRIOR TO THE CONTEST TO FINISH UP
THE INTERIOR.
THE FINAL STEP PRIOR TO STARTING, PUTTING 4 GALLONS OF FUEL INTO THE CAR.
THIS SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO START THE CAR.
