May 22, 2009 - Is anything going on with the Pinto???

Over the last 9 months, work has gone on in fits and spurts on the car, but unfortunately the pictures were lost in a computer crash due to back ups not being done.  I have done the best I could in some of the pictures back, but others are lost.  A quick summary of the last months are as follows...

August 08 - Too much work, not enough time for the car.

September 08 - Preparing for a new arrival in our house,  annual motorcycle trip with my dad.

October 08 - Nico was born on 10/11 way too early in the morning.

November 08 - Helping take care of Nico a lot due to way more free time than expected because of company downsizing.

December 08 - Looking for work and helping with Nico

January 09 - Helped dad with properties and looked for work. Went to the International Roadster show with my dad.

February 09 - Started working on pinto to get ready for car shows in the comming year.  Our hope is to get the engine working better than it is currently.  It has been in 2 shows as of the first of the year.  Those shows are Good Guys Orange County and Fabulous Fords.  I have managed a few photos from either the internet or through friends.

March 09 - Worked on hood to show some progress from last year, but did not finish it for the Good Guys OC show. Took Ana on Saturday and Nico on Sunday.

April 09 - Worked on hood more to close up all holes and painted it one solid color for Fabulous Fords in Mid April.

National Roadster Show - Pomona, CA 1/23/09

Dad, the kids and I gave Juli the day off and we went to the National Roadster show to look at Dearborn Deuce Roadsters to get ideas and see if there were any with the setup dad is having built.  We did see another car with a fully chromed fuel injected 502ci motor and took pictures for dad.  We also found another Dearborn that a builder in San Diego had installed a Carbureted 572ci motor

GOODGUYS ORANGE COUNTY - 3/14-15/09

Proof that it drove in under its own power for the weekend.  It was trailered to the event from HB both days, but that is because it did not make it driving last year.  You can see the progress on the hood, but there are holes at the front of the sides and on top.  We did paint the hood, but it is only temporary.

Here is Ana at our parking spot in Homebuilt Heaven with her toys for the day.  She was there with Dad and Grandpa all day.

On Sunday, Nico had his turn at the show.  Here I am putting on the safety belt on the child carrier while he sleeps.  He rode into and out of the show.  We were also visited by Mom, Rodger and Samantha, but no pictures of were we parked.

FABULOUS FORDS FOREVER - 4/19/09

I know that there were a total of 34 pintos this year and that not all had been there before.  I did go with both kids in the morning, however it was hot this day and Nico got sent home early with Grammy due to the heat.  Here are the pictures I found.

OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST...

In March while getting the Pinto ready for car shows, I was able to get it down to a local car show called Doughnut Derelicts that takes place every Saturday Morning from 5 to 9am.  On the way to the show I was followed by a P71 Crown Victoria and was hesitant to goose the engine even though it was running rough.  When I parked, I found out he was a writer for Car and Craft Magazine.  He took a picture of my car and got some information including my mention of Grassroots Motorsports being the reason for the purchase and build of the car in the first place.  As in the link here and pictured below, my car was pictured in the June 09 Issue of Car and Craft.

Car and Craft article on the Pinto

Because of this, I was asked by the Editor of GRM to forward some pictures for their potential use.  I have forwarded the following pictures taken by my co-builder Chris Laudermilk for their use should we be lucky enough to be pictured in the magazine.  Wish us luck.....
