06-13-04 - THE DONOR CAR -

We found a 1982 Mustang GT.  It has a 302 HO with a 4 speed transmission.   We thought it was a 5 speed, but we could not argue with the price of $350  It is going to be a good starting point for the pinto.  It is an out of state car from Ohio and has quite a bit of body damage.  It would appear to only have 97000 original miles.

ugly

Yes, the duct tape was required to keep the hood down.  The latch was broken.

The body looks ugly, but we are only interested in the engine, transmission and rear end, which were in good shape and untouched by the accident that damaged the body.

We also got a set of wheels and tires off an 88 mustang.  We were able to see which tires were on the back.  The other set are in good shape.

We also got an Edlebrock intake mainfold for the carb we got a few weeks ago.

Our current budget spent is about $850 for the following:
1 car that will not go (pinto)
1 car that will not stop (mustang, no brakes)
and parts to help make the two go together.

We still need seats, seat belts, fuel lines, to get the car running.
We will try to use the fuel pump, rear suspension, from the mustang.
If they do not work, we will need to try somthing else
