We have moved (again!) to Cortland, New York. If you don't yet
have our snail-mail address and phone,
drop us an e-mail.
Pete’s e-mail is now

Julie’s personal e-mail remains the same as ever.
In June 2004 Julie was informed that her contract at Hamilton College would not be renewed after June 2005. This gave her a year to find a new position. There was much applying and interviewing, but no offers seemed to be forthcoming. Then she had an interview with SUNY Cortland for a part-time, one month position and was offered not only that position but a temporary 3/4-time position to begin immediately after the month-long position. The environment was supportive and friendly, and she received many compliments on her work, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to get an offer of a permanent position, so the application process began again. She applied to several libraries, both public and academic, in upstate New York and was offered a position as director of the Groton Public Library just about 10 minutes away from Cortland. She started June 27. She is excited about being back in public librarianship, and we all are happy about not having to move again so soon.
Over the summer she also got to teach an information literacy course at Bryant and Stratton College in Syracuse. She had three sections which, together with the job at SUNY Cortland and then Groton Public Library, made for a rather hectic schedule.
Our last issue came out three years ago just as June was finishing Kindergarten. Now she is in fourth grade. She loves to read, write, and work on art projects, she likes playing violin in the orchestra (though she doesn't like practicing), and she likes science but otherwise finds school dull. Outside of school she plays with the many other kids in the neighborhood.
Pete continued to work at the Hamilton Public Library about 40% time until we moved to Cortland. He had become the de facto computer guru and often was called on to solve problems for library patrons using the public access machines or for staff behind the desk. He is looking for a position in Cortland (or perhaps as far afield as Syracuse or Ithaca) of just about any sort, but he would like it to be for an organization with goals and values like those of the library. "It would also be nice if it involved heavy use of math or computers," he says. Recognizing that his experience is largely clerical, he took some accounting courses over the summer to strengthen his qualifications, but he doesn't see getting any deeper into accounting. He also sat in on a course on mathematical methods in physics over the spring, but that was just for fun.
We continue to dance with the Syracuse-based Bassett Street Hounds (aroooh!) and are back to regular practice with Ithaca’s Heartwood. One advantage that Cortland offers is that living there places us less than an hour from each team’s practice location.
June and Julie at the Oregon City end of the Oregon Trail
This summer we squeezed in a trip to Oregon to celebrate Pete's Dad's 80th birthday at the Dombrowsky family picnic.
We have also been going to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cortland, and Julie volunteered to be the Webmaster—check it out at http://uucortland.uuism.org! Pete got talked into being Treasurer. All that plus car trouble and—oh, yes—Julie having her gall bladder out in December 2005 have made this a busy year!
