Links
Here's a few of my favorite links for
those of you who share my interests.
Comic Books: Comic
book fans are among some of the most prolific site designers out there. There
are far too many sites to mention, most of them with great content and stunning
images. I've tried to include a few of the most useful and basic sites out there
as a starting point. Be sure to check out the more extensive links on these
pages.
- The
Silver Age Marvel Comics Cover Index- A great site with beautiful scans
of silver-age Marvel covers, along
with some great critiques.
- The
Grand Comic Book Database- Got a question about a comic? When was it published?
Who was the inker? What was the storyline? Well, here's your best chance to
get the answer. From Golden Age to Bronze, American to Italian. Highly recommended.
- Comic
Book Resources-Great for new comic news, as well as one of the most extensive
links pages.
- The
History of the Superhero Comic Books- A nice summary of the history of
superhero comics, for the beginning and advanced collector alike. Great scans.
- Flying
Donut Trading Company-This site belongs to my friend Dan, who always manages
to find some great books and collections, especially hard-to-find 1970's romance
books.
Cartoon Glasses
- Collectors
Glass News-A great site and a great newsletter. If you collect promotional
glasses, this is the place to go to learn about new releases as well as rare
glasses, including scarce 1930's dairy glasses, prototypes, and samples. Great
auctions with reliable descriptions.
- Dick
Ladd's Glass site- A great site featuring many hard-to-find classic Disney
glasses from the 1930's.
- The
Glass Junkie-Another collector's site featuring some great glasses.
- Brian
Callahan-Brian's site always has extensive information on the Promotional
Glass Collectors Association (PGCA) meetings as well as his own want list.
- Les
Verres-Just in case you thought obsessive collecting of cartoon glasses
was limited to the U.S. Frederic's site is great and lists variations of French
mustard jars in detail. Well worth looking at, even if you don't speak any
French.
-
The Looney Tunes Collector-A great site which attempts the impossible-inventory all merhcandise
ever licensed to feature the great Looney Tunes characters. The site has a page listing
promotional glasses.
