VWs By the River Yuma Az
savethebays.jpg Another wonderfull VW event fun filled weekend. Started on Veterans Day Mike and I took off for Heber Ca to hook up with our friends the Haydens. On from there we cruised together into Yuma. Four Bay windows and a water pumper. Save the Bays have arrived. We got there to Andys Casa in Yuma a little after dark. Made our way to our spot in his yard which was filled with a total of 39 buses.I don't think that number included all of his own as well. Pyro had his huge inferno going. We ate carne asada, chit chatted caught up with those we haven't seen for some time and met some new friends. The weather was perfect for a light sweatshirt. Morning was coming quickly so off to our campers we all went for a great night sleep. In the morning while sipping our coffee and coming to we chatted some more and off to the show we go. All the splitties take off in a huge caravan it was awesome. Just the sound of all the buses reving thier engines up and you could hear them all the way down the street going through the gears was exciting. Yes I am a geek it was cool. "Save the Bays" left last we followed Andy to the show. Located on the Colorado River. It was a nice shaded grassy park with a beach. Couldn't pick a better location. The show had a great turn out 88 aircooled and some water coolers as well. I got to meet some of the Mexicali German Toys group. As well as talk with Ronnie who gave me some good info on my single wheel trailer. It was good to see the Yuma guys that you only see 2 times a year. And it was a treat to do it in thier nieghborhood. Thanx for the hospitality. Great show I will be back next year. We hung out in the park after the show then headed back to Heber for the night. After another good night sleep it was home bound. All in all the trip was 720 mi for me with an average 22mi per gallon not too bad for a weekend jaunt.

Hot VWs Magazine December 2005 Issue
hf1.jpgThis months issue features the Herbie and Friends Cruise Accross America Tour. I enjoyed participating in a few of the events. I even got my picture and the buses picture in the magazine. Although you need a magnifying glass to see it if your eye sight is as good as mine. This was alot of VW fun. For me it started Friday morning on the Santa Monica Pier. Went on to selling hotdogs at the Karmen Ghia Trffen in Ventura on Saturday on to seeing everyone off at the Santa Monica VW Dealership on Sun. See more pics on the events page.
