#P0122 1/6 Daguerreotype, twin sisters
|
|
Sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype of what I
believe to be twin sisters wearing off-shoulder dresses and holding hands in a loving pose. This is one of the first daguerreotypes
to go into my collection. The image has always struck me to be rather provocative or risqué with the girls being somewhat
young and appearing to have colored their lips and looking so adult. Housed in a nice case with a colored paper spine repair.
I could redo the spine repair with a leather one if the new owner so desires.
CONDITION: the re-silvered plate has obvious condition issues, with light wipes, tarnish and mat marks. I resealed the
dag with Filmoplast P90. (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver
to the plate before buffing and the image exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate
surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.)
