#P1234 Half PLate Daguerreotype, a group of 10 young school
children
|
|
Great half plate (4.25" by 5.50") daguerreotype of a
group of 10 young school children. What a great looking bunch of kids, some are very cute especially the little girl with
curls and boy in a tasseled hat on the right. Identified photographer is Sterling McIntyre of NYC. The mat in imprinted with
“McINTYRE 663 BROADWAY NY”. Housed in a nice full case, the original spine is about 50% torn and is just holding
on. I can replace it with a nice leather spine repair if the new owner so desires.

site.
CONDITION: the re-silvered plate is in excellent condition. Resealed by a previous hand with Filmoplast P90. (NOTE: re-silvered
refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before buffing and the image
exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.)
