#3150 1/4 Daguerreotype of a possible school group of
ten young ladies
Fantastic daguerreotype of a possible school group of
ten young ladies. A wonderful pose of affection and array of beautiful looking to plain young ladies. Although unattributed
this looks and just feels like it was done by one of the Boston master studios, possibly Whipple & Black. A major curiosity
for the image is that it is an undersized quarter plate (3 ¼” by 4”) matted to an oversized mat (3 ¾” by
4 ¼”). The image came to me in a beat up half case; it has since been housed in a full case with a professional spine
repair. The case has a slight warp to it and does not close easily; it is probably of a little older period than the image.
CONDITION: excellent condition, a couple of teeny white dots and tarnish around the mat as seen. I replaced the filthy
glass and resealed it with Filmoplast P90 and an archival polyester sheet.
