Residents Against the Power Plant

"We moved to this area so that our children would have a safe and healthy place to grow up.  Now the safety of the very air they breathe is being threatened."

Welcome to the web site for RAPP, the Residents Against the Power Plant.

We are a volunteer group of concerned citizens who oppose the construction of a 300-megawatt, waste-coal burning power plant in Robinson Township. We are rural, suburban, and urban; parents and singles; housewives, businesspeople, and farmers...all of whom are alarmed by the prospect of introducing a toxin-producing facility into our backyards. Our membership is informal and open to everyone who wants to be more informed about the quality of the air and water where we live.

Although this organization was started by families in rural communities, the operation of the proposed power plant will have far-reaching effects that will impact much of our region, including the metro area of Pittsburgh and its suburbs. Prevailing winds will carry air pollution well into Allegheny County, making this very much a problem that affects our entire region.
