| Congratulations to Brett McDermott for being signed as a free
agent with the Colts of the NFL. Brett attended the rookie camp
last week and is still listed on their active roster for 2009. Rookie Camp went very well and Brett has been invited back to the Colts for Optional workouts next week and he will attend the June mini-camp for all players (veterans/rookies). Brett graduated from MHS in 2005 after playing three years in our football program. Brett was a back-up JV player in his sophomore year, a JV starter as a junior and became an All-League, All-Scholastic and Shriner's All-Star as a senior. GOALS OF THE CAMP: PLAYERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED IN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE GAME OF
FOOTBALL IN A POSITIVE AND ENJOYABLE ATMOSPHERE. THEY WILL LEARN THE TECHNIQUES OF BLOCKING, RUNNING,
TACKLING, PASS RECEIVING, PASSING AND STANCES. THE PLAYERS WILL BE INTRODUCED TO BASIC PLAYS
ON OFFENSE AND BASIC DEFENSIVE STANCES AND ALIGNMENTS. THE CAMP IS OPEN TO ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE AND THE EMPHASIS IS ON LEARNING, SAFETY, IMPROVEMENT AND ENJOYMENT. NO PREVIOUS FOOTBALL EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY! TEAMWORK AND A POSITIVE ATTITUDE ARE ALSO A MAJOR FOCUS OF THE CAMP PHILOSOPHY. Congratulations Dan Glavin and Jeff Mallett have been selected to play in the 31st Annual Shriner's All-Star Classic. The game will be played at Bentley College on Friday, June 19th at 7:00 pm. All proceeds from the game go the Shriner's Hospital in Boston which provides free medical care to young children who are recovering from burn-related injuries. |
Excellence in the classroomOver 78 % of the members of last years football team were honor roll students!Of the graduating class this year all but one have been accepted to attend college. The other student will be joining the U. S. Military service. And on that note: Congratulations to Jason Armstrong. He was promoted to the permanent rank of Major, United States Air Force. He is a 1999 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
