1994 Hall of Fame Bios


A former coach and four players are the latest members of the Gridiron Club of Mansfield Football Hall of Fame.

The Football High School banquet which was held at Bernardi's on December 8, 1994 with 350 in attendance for a full sit-down dinner featured a combination of the old, in the form of the Hall of Famers and new, in the Division 3B Super Bowl Champions!

Inducted into the Mansfield High School Football Hall of Fame were Donald Huston (45); Hugo Bolin (56); Kevin Fallon (66); Kevin Jackson (80); and William Sullivan, a former coach and athletic director. Each inductee was presented a plaque by 1994 captains Eric Schleman, Rob Smith, Dave Sullivan and Fred Vallett.

Donald Huston was a three-year varsity starter at right guard and also played defense for the Green Hornets. During his senior season, he averaged six tackles per game and recovered eight fumbles. He played for the Mansfield Town Team from 1947-1949. After the 1994 season ended, then 17-year -old Huston enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served in three theaters of war before being discharged in 1946. He attended Brown University's Veteran's College and the University of Maine where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. He has a United States Coast Guard master license and is currently a consulting engineer in Nahant.

Hugo Bolin was a four-year letterman in football, baseball, and track and earned three letters in basketball. In 1956 he received the Senior Award for achievement in scholarship and athletics. Following graduation, Bolin attended Boston University on a full scholarship; starting at halfback his sophomore year. He graduated in1960 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education. He went to Rochester, N.H. as a physical education instructor, He currently is athletic director as well as head football and head baseball coach. Bolin is in the school's Hall of Fame. In football his teams have posted a 183-108-3 record with Division One State Championships in 1965,1971, 1979,1982 and 1990.

Kevin Fallon moved into the football starting offense and defense lineup as a freshman. He played varsity basketball, scoring 130 points and was the leading hitter on the varsity baseball team with a .324 average. He moved from fullback to end on offense during his sophomore season and was one of the area's best two-way players. Fallon scored 302 points in basketball and was a Hockomock all-star in baseball. A broken leg sidelined Fallon for his junior year, but he came back strong during his senior year and was captain of the football and basketball teams plus co-captain of the baseball team. A Bridgewater State Alumni (76) with a degree (B/S-Psychology). Since 1981 is owner and director of the Mansfield Children Center. He is married to Jeanne Mathias and they have a seven year old daughter, Ashley. They reside in Mansfield.

Kevin Jackson started as a two-way standout by playing quarterback his freshman year before moving to wide-receiver for his sophomore and junior seasons and was named to all-star teams. In his senior year, Jackson moved back to quarterback where he passed for 898 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran for four scores, earning a full scholarship to the University of Massachusetts. During his senior year, Jackson was the leading receiver and punt returnee at U.Mass. After graduating with a management degree, he signed a free agent contract with the New England Patriots in 1984 but was unable to play because of an injury. Jackson now lives in Newburyport and works in the wholesale oil industry.

Bill Sullivan was athletic director at Mansfield from 1965-1969 after an illustrious career as Ass't Football Coach, head basketball and baseball coach of the Green Hornets from 1955-1965. Sullivan is a graduate of Coyle High where he played quarterback and defense for the 1946 state champs. He then went to Fordham University where one of his coaches was Vince Lombardi. From 1950-51, he played quarterback for the U.S. Navy service champions. He also played for the Taunton Herrings in 1952 which won the New England Semi-Pro championships. From 1969-1988 he was the principal and assistant superintendent for Raynham schools. Sullivan now lives on Cape Cod and works in real estate.
