William E. Harlor
Bill was a 1928 graduate of Mansfield High School. He was a four-year player; back when players went both ways, starting at left tackle all four years. He was a Captain his senior year. Bill was voted most athletic his senior year. Some quotes found in the papers from when he played: "Outstanding player, both sides of the ball"-"Born leader"-"A strong player"-"A great extra point kicker".

Some highlights from his career: against Canton - he tackled the opponent in the end zone for a safety, against Bridgewater he intercepted a pass and ran 70 yards for a touchdown. Other sports: four-year player in baseball and basketball (Captain).

He was a founding member of the Foxboro Country Golf Club, and was owner of The Mansfield Machinery Company.

Present for the award were; Mrs. Eleanor Harlor (32)-wife, Joan Holiday (53)-daughter, Mary Ann Harlor (59)-daughter-in-law, Leslie Harlor (67)-daughter-in-law, Bill Harlor (80)-grandson, Adam Harlor (92)-grandson, Kathy Desmond-family friend, Amy Towlins (88)-grand daughter, Kertis Towlins-grand son-in-law.

Mr. Harlor died in 1998. Accepting the plaque was Mrs. Eleanor Harlor and Adam Harlor.


Christopher Gonsalves
A 1978 Graduate of Mansfield High School, Chris played four years as a starter and served as captain his senior year. He played halfback and defensive linebacker and end. After graduation he went on to play varsity football at Bridgewater State from 1978-80. Honors received by Chris include, 1976 & 1977 All Hockomock (Defensive Linebacker), 1977 Sun Chronicle (Halfback), 1977 - The Recipient of the Nick Rossi Award (MVP)

His 1977 stats include 49 Solo tackles, 29 Assists, 3 Interceptions, 3 Blocked punts, 5 Touchdowns - Rushed for 563 yards (6.2 AVERAGE).

GAMES HIGHLIGHTS & QUOTES

  1. Oliver Ames - Blocked a punt - " devastating tackler".
  2. Old Rochester - 80 yards rushing – "scored T.D. carrying tacklers into the end zone"
  3. King Philip - Scored T.D. - recovered fumble – "the Spiderman was everywhere"
  4. No. Attleboro - Won 28-19, first time in 8 years - Blocked a punt scored a T.D. rushed for 106 yards. Recovered a fumble. Was the primary mover on offense & defense" – "He runs with all abandon"
  5. Foxboro - Won 13-0 before over 6000 fans. Rushed for 123 yards, scored a T.D. "nobody was able to stop Gonsalves'" GAMES MVP.
Chris received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Bridgewater State College and is certified by Microsoft as a systems engineer. He also served in the US Army from 1980-86. Wang Global presently employs him as a network automation specialist.

Chris traveled from Arizona to receive his award. With him this evening is Jack and Fran Andrade [uncle & aunt], Tracy Sousa [cousin], and Sue Wessels.


Thomas Connor
A 1985 graduate of Mansfield High School Tom played four years and was a captain his senior year. He played nose guard, guard, inside linebacker, and fullback. In his senior year he was named All-Hockomock (guard), All Sun Chronicle (linebacker), and was the first recipient of the Mansfield Booster Club "Thanksgiving Day MVP.

In addition to football Tom ran track, (captain in his senior year) threw discus 140', shot put 47', javelin 172' In1984 as a junior he took first place in the Class C discuss In 1985 he took first place in the state relays in javelin.

At the college level he was one of three freshmen of thirteenth ranked nationally AIC Yellow Jackets to receive a Varsity Letter. In 1993 & 1994 he was the head coach of the Mansfield freshman football team. And was a member of the 1994 Hockomock/Division 3 champions Hornets coaching staff.

In 1992 and 1993 Tom served as an Attleboro auxiliary police officer, in 1994 and 1995 as a reserve officer for the Foxboro police department. He has been a Mansfield police officer from 1996 to present. In 1996 he was assigned a specialty position as D.A.R.E./Crime Prevention Officer for the Mansfield Police Department. In 1996 he received official commendation from the Chief of Police and Fire Chief for duty above and beyond the call of duty attempting to resuscitate an infant child. Also in 1996 he received official commendation from the Chief of Police in obtaining essential information that led to the arrest and conviction of 36 persons in "Operation Clean Streets 1996". And received official commendation from George Pesta, Head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for "Outstanding contribution in the field of drug enforcement".

To assist in researching in many areas like future Hall of Fame members, a Gridiron Club Library has been established and we would appreciate receiving any scrapbooks, photographs (especially of the team) or newspaper articles concerning the football team.
