Portmagee is at the southwestern part of the Iveragh peninsula, commonly known as the "Ring of Kerry." Portmagee village is about 6 miles off of the Ring of Kerry road (N70), in a quiet rural area which is easily accessible to all of the attractions in Kerry. Portmagee is 1 hour's drive from the airport at Farranfore near Killarney and the Killarney train station, and is about 3-1/2 hours' drive from Shannon airport.
