Train Videos by Luis Arellano, III

I have many hours of video on original VHS, 8MM, Hi-8 and S-VHS-ET tapes.  While I recycle concert and other event tapes after transfer, I keep almost all of my original videos of trains permanently.  From 1998 through 2003 I was backing up these videos to S-VHS-ET videotapes.  Some items were encoded into MPEG1 video files and stored on CD's.

Finally, at Christmas 2003 I received a Panasonic E80 DVD Recorder that I have since been using to write my material to DVD's as fast as I can feed them through.

My subjects include primarily Conrail trains and line side subjects.  With the Conrail breakup, the emphasis is now on NS.  I have Amtrak, Septa, CSX, NS, D&H, CP, short lines including East Penn Railway (EPRY) and a few trolleys.  Much of the footage is in the East Penn corridor, from Emaus (Emmaus, take your pick) to Easton  PA, with a particular focus at and around CP Burn, Allentown Yard and Bethlehem. Other favorite locations include Macungie, Abrams Yard (Norristown Area), Valley Forge, Conshohocken (CP King), and the Amtrak Main Lines through Montgomery County and Lower Bucks County PA.

You may recall news items in the Spring of 2004 that mention a lot of "suspicious" videotaping reported around Amtrak lines in the Philadelphia area.  I believe in their heightened state of awareness, many people may have mistaken common rail-fanning for terrorist activity.

Most of the trolleys are in the Northeast, but I have a nice DVD of a ride all the way around the Memphis TN trolley loop along the Mississippi River.

I have done a little light editing here and there, and I now have a couple of railroad DVD's for sale.  If there is enough interest and support, I will get a shop to do some professional edits.

I also have a large collection of Kodachrome Slides of train subjects.
