I'm not ashamed to say I was fishing for compliments that I could use in my newsletter, when I got this one from a customer who I knew would be very vocal:
"I'll give you a testimonial you can send out to your customers... I've had a lot of contractors around here, with the addition, you know - and there's nobody as dependable as you."

In checking my references, Bill Kee (Cowan Associates) called Rotary friend Bruce Pepperdine (Quaker Village I.G.A./Great Valu) to ask about us, "Is he on the up and up?"
The reply: "Yes, he's honest, and if he tells you that's the way something is, then that's the way it is."
(Bruce was our customer from 1984 until his retirement in 2000; Bill since 1989.)
After a system installation: "I feel very safe with the system, especially after the recent vandalism."

"I'VE FALLEN..." Mrs. E.L. suffers from severe arthritis. She fell one night and used her pendant alert button to summon aid. She called me the next day just to say, "It was worth what I paid for it. The way everyone responded was wonderful. They were here in five minutes! You can use that as a recommendation!"
(This is just one of many such successes.)
After suffering a serious burglary, Joe and Karen C. had us install a system. Joe later called me. "We just wanted to call you and thank you again for all you did. We are really fussy people and you did great work. Our daughter feels a lot safer."
Whenever I bump into him, Joe never fails to mention how glad he is to have our system.

I once received a blind copy of a letter from a top-drawer home improvement contractor to one of his clients. Here's an excerpt:
"I am writing with some unsolicited advice regarding your security system. If you were to change companies you might want to consider a company I have used for many years and which has installed and serviced systems for a number of our clients....
"I think one of the advantages of Lou's approach to the business is that he tailors each system to the individual needs of the client. He is also not a primadonna and would probably be willing to reuse most of your system as it is. I am quite confident if you go to a large company, such as [it's a pretty big one], that they will insist upon tearing out what is there and putting in their own proprietary system. The system will perform in exactly the way they dictate with virtually no accommodation to individual desires."

Dear Mr. Arellano:
We have just returned from Italy after a 3-month stay. Thank you for taking care of the problems so promptly. Rebecca also appreciated the courteous attention to these of your representative. Thank you also for your patience.

Al K. commented after a bit of technical assistance by phone: "I feel like a good air controller has just helped me land a 747."
Louise S., about to move out of the area temporarily: "It has been a wonderful system. I have been a very happy customer."
Wallace N., while advising us he planned to move: "The new owner will be crazy not to go with you." Further into the conversation he added, "It's a wonderful system once you know the ropes."
As always, the overwhelming majority of our new business is derived from your direct referrals. These are always needed and greatly appreciated. Please keep us in mind!
