Here's what some soul wrote about my book:
Free Security Systems: What's the Real Cost?
Not very long ago, Home Security Systems that once cost upwards of two thousand dollars were suddenly advertised for a couple of hundred dollars, and even for "free." Prospective buyers are baffled by the broad range of prices they are being quoted today by different companies, for what they believe to be "the same thing." They want a logical explanation. Author Luis Arellano, III, with over 25 years in the security alarm industry and over 20 years operating his own company, knows why dealers are in such a frenzy to install systems, even if it means giving them away!
His book, Free Security Systems: What's the Real Cost? pulls the veil off security system economics; explains common alarm marketing methods; reveals many dealers' true motivations and shows how they expect to realize their profits from the alarm business. With some thorough explanations and case histories, he shows how consumers can guard against potentially expensive mistakes. He discloses over a hundred insights to help you choose your supplier, get the best possible deal on a system and obtain better service after the sale. He highlights trends that may affect your system over the long haul. His information is direct from the secret corners of the alarm dealer's mind, and is so candid he seriously considered writing this expose under a pseudonym.
Arellano does not claim to be unbiased in supporting the small to medium sized alarm dealer in his writing. He chose to avoid the rapid growth syndrome for his own company, preferring to stay more personal with his subscribers. He takes satisfaction in knowing the systems installed by his company were better designed, included only proven devices of good quality, and were installed by competent technicians who were allowed sufficient time to do a careful job. "I get more uninterrupted sleep that way," he says, "and so do my customers."
Anyone considering or currently using an electronic security or fire system can benefit from this treatise.
This document has evolved over several years. This is because the alarm market itself is an evolving thing, and also because it takes time to provide the kind of depth I wish to give it. The current draft includes the subjects described above, but being a fussy writer, I have a tendency to polish the language and expand ideas whenever I reread them. I do not usually publish until I am very satisfied with my product. However, this document is being made available now, because simply, it is badly needed and it would be unfair to "hold back the meal for lack of one garnish." When you order, you will get the absolute latest revision. It currently has, and will continue to have new idea notes and outline titles that I insert as ideas occur. They will be elaborated in keeping with urgency and available time. Think of them as a preview of coming attractions. If after reading it, you have questions or suggestions for improvement, or see an idea you want elaborated, feel free to Contact Lou.
