How does the Comfort
Series hot water system work?

Grundfos
"Comfort" series hot water system works in the following manner: The comfort valve is installed under the faucet farthest
from the water heater. The UP 15 series recirculation pump moves the hot water from the heater throughout the pipe back to
the heater through the cold water line. As the water heats up at the comfort valve, it closes. When a faucet is turned on,
warm water is instantly available for use with no waste.
How much hot water can
I save?
Tests show that
a 2000 square foot house could save up to 16,000 gallons per year.
"I have multiple
hot water branches. If I use the UP15-10S series, how will I get water to all branches?"
You can order additional comfort
valves for each branch.
How much power does
the pump use?
The pump is rated for 24
watts (equivalent to a small light bulb).
Does the pump need
to be located at the hot water heater?
The pump can be located
anywhere in the loop. The easiest location is at the water heater. The pump has a 3/4" fitting that is a standard
connection for water heaters.
How far in advance of needing
hot water should I set the timer?
Set the timer so the pump
comes on 15-30 minutes prior to your need for hot water.
Could I still have locations
in my house where the hot water side is still cold?
It is possible to have multiple
runs for pipe from your hot water heater. This is easily addressed by adding additional valves for these locations.
(The Pump kit includes one valve. Additional valves may be purchased with no additional freight charges.)
Must the valve be in a
horizontal position for it to work properly?
No. It can be in any
position.
How can I tell if the pump
is running?
The pump is very quiet.
If you are getting hot water in accordance with your timer settings, the pump is running.
Will the valve work with
other pumps?
No. The valve is designed
to work exclusively with the Grundfos Comfort Pump. The use of any other pump will over pump or under pump
the system, causing the system to fail and void the warranty.
