History of Our Council
The first meeting of the Los Angeles
Area Council was January 24, 1990. Following the friendships that developed from the 1987 ABWA National Convention in Los Angeles, some members felt a council was needed for chapters in the large Los Angeles County
area. By the second meeting in February, Interim officers were elected and a
Charter Development Team began to write the bylaws for the Council.
On June
9th, the chartering ceremony took place in Downey
with the following being elected: President Diane (Gonzales) Tubbs; 1st Vice Chair Felecia Dennis; 2nd
Vice Chair Vivian Armijo,
Secretary Karen Hawe and Treasurer Barbara Carlson.
