The Chat!

MrJBolt: It’s Patti typing for Robert. And Karen is here as an innocent bystander.
MrJBolt: Hello Ladies, and you guys.
Laskye: I hope Patti gave you the mug and the Newsletter.
MrJBolt: Susie, the mug is marvelous. I’m using it now.
Laskye: Oh, I’m glad you like it! I’m sorry you were unable to attend, but the faxes were wonderful.
Blu Skiiz: Thank you for the wonderful fax you sent via Bridget!
Bahull: Yes, we loved the fax from Italy, very thoughtful.
MKBaughan: We really enjoyed hearing from you at the Get Together.
Dsoucie: Thank you for that very articulate fax the night of the Get Together. Sorry you could not attend.

MrJBolt: Nancy and Pam, we’re going to San Francisco on a holiday and my wife is taking your book with us so we can read it.
Nea Wood: Oh, really? I hope you enjoy it.
TMSJ: It is a great book.
Blu Skiiz: Wonderful I think you will like it very much.
Nea Wood: Pam’s not here, but I’ll certainly tell her!
Laskye: You will enjoy it Robert, it is wonderful!
Cccasperrr: It’s a wonderful book.
MKBaughan: I loved what I read.

Nea Wood: It’s so nice of you to agree to do this chat, Robert.
MrJBolt: It is my pleasure to do the chat. It’s a wonderful thing to have anyone listen to what I have to say, including my sweet wife.
Nea Wood: Awww!
LaDMorton: If only we could really "listen" - LOL!
CCTRU: We’ll always be here to listen to whatever you have to say! Count on us!
Nea Wood: Yes, you have such a wonderful voice.
Mlvc 72 ss: Have my volume turned up!!

Blu Skiiz: Robert. Happy birthday in advance! How are you going to spend Tuesday?
Nea Wood: Yes, what are your birthday plans?
MrJBolt: Going to San Francisco for my birthday on Tuesday.

Blu Skiiz: How was your trip to Italy, Robert?
MrJBolt: In Italy it rained most of the time. It was chilly and the roof leaked. The pipe from the well to the house broke. Other than that we had a wonderful time.
Nea Wood: Oh, no!
Blu Skiiz: Oh no! Sorry to hear that!
Laskye: Oh no, that is too bad.
TMSJ: Oh, that’s too bad. But Italy is still wonderful.
Laskye: At least this year you didn’t have an earthquake in Italy!
Mandi3020: Robert, how long was your stay in Italy?
MrJBolt: Six weeks in Italy.
Mandi3020: Six weeks, sounds wonderful, never been there, but maybe someday.
DSoucie: Do you own a place in Italy?

JBLKO: Robert, what were your pants made out of, they looked like stretch pants, not that we minded.
CCTRU: I wonder if you wear fringe anymore you certainly looked good in it.
MrJBolt: Pants, pure silk.
JLBKO: You are kidding the logging costumes? What an odd choice silk.
CCTRU: And don’t forget those fringed boots.
Nea Wood: And the turtlenecks! And the gloves!
MrJBolt: Alman hated the fringe on the shirt and the boots, so the second season they took the fringe off.
JLBKO: Who is Alman?
MrJBolt: Robert Altman. Sorry, Patii typing.
MrJBolt: That’s PATTI
Cctru: It was an interesting fashion choice, that’s for sure. But we all remember it!
LaDMorton: The same Robert Altman the director?
MrJBolt: Yes, the producer/director.
MrJBolt: LaDene, I want to thank you for helping Patti with the spelling of the German names and all that in my interview.
LaDMorton: Believe me Robert, it was entirely my pleasure, but you’re welcome!
TMSJ: The interview was so fascinating to read! What interesting times you had.
MKBaughan: I know, I loved it.
Cccasperrr: I loved the interview.
Blu Skiiz: Agreed!!
Nea Wood: Me, too.

Blu Skiiz: Robert, do you have any hobbies? I know you’re a writer, do you write any fiction?
JLBKO: Robert, you should write a short story about Jason Bolt.
Did you think the show took on a moralistic tone in the second season?
LaDMorton: I read your piece in "Horsing Around".
Nea Wood: Your life story would make a great book.
TMSJ: Yes, or a movie!
Cccasperrr: Robert, I love the voiceovers. Have you ever considered doing a book on tape?
JLBKO: Were you ever frustrated that the writers did not develop Jason’s personal life more?
Nea Wood: Yes, like romance?
CatRan76: That’s a great idea!!
Blu Skiiz: You have a wonderful voice for that sort of thing.

LaDMorton: Yes, I wanted to ask if, with all that theatre background, you’ve ever directed?
MrJBolt: I have assisted Carroll O’Connor in a play he wrote. I co-directed the play. It was called "Ladies of Hanover Tower".
LaDMorton and Nea Wood: When was that?
Laskye: By the way, I would love for you to tell Mr. O’Connor that I am a fan of his. I even belong to the "In the Heat of the Night" fan club.
JKLBO: I loved him on "Party of Five".
Laskye: He seems like a great guy.
Blu Skiiz: He’s a wonderful actor.
Nea Wood: I have heard that he’s a lovely man, and nothing at all like Archie Bunker!
Blu Skiiz: He had so much love for his son.

Mlvc 72 ss: Robert, did you have to try out for the part of Jason?
Bahull: Yes, Robert, how did Jason Bolt come into your life?
MrJBolt: No, I didn’t try out for the part of Jason. They hired me before anyone else.
LaDMorton: What did you think when you first read the script honestly?
Blu Skiiz: You were the perfect choice!
CatRan76: I’m sorry, just too young to notice back when Brides was on originally.
Bahull: Still a role you are pleased with?
Mandi3020: No one else could have played the role of Jason other than you!
Nea Wood: True.
Cccasperrr: Very true.
Mlvc 72 ss: Yes.
CCTRU: Were you a natural speaker before you took on the role? That Jason was a silver-tongued devil.
DSoucie: Yes, you were the focus of the show in many ways.

JLBKO: Did you have a say in who else was cast?
MrJBolt: Yes, I was asked after the pilot was made who I could think of, who could play Lottie. They weren’t happy with the actress who they hired for the pilot.
MKBaughan: I don’t think any of us could picture anyone else in those roles.
Nea Wood: So you suggested Miss Blondell?
LaDMorton: How long had you known Joan?
MrJBolt: I looked at a list and I thought Joan Blondell was wonderful. I’d never met her, she was just an actress that I respected.
Nea Wood: Oh, I’m so glad she played Lottie.
Blu Skiiz: I can’t picture anyone else playing Lottie now.
Cccasperrr: Had you worked with Joan prior to "Brides"?
LaDMorton: But they had hired another actress for the pilot.
Mandi3020: Me either Joan was Lottie.
Blu Skiiz: Who was the original actress?
LaDMorton: Excellent taste!
CCTRU: Joan Blondell had a wonderful career she was quite a beautiful actress.
Mlvc 72 ss: The whole cast was PERFECT!
Nea Wood: So true.
TMSJ: Yes, it was a great ensemble cast.

JLBKO: Did you do any rewriting of lines or dialogue on scripts?
MrJBolt: Constantly. I rewrote whenever I could get away with it.
Nea Wood: It was such a wonderful show.
MKBaughan: Creative control is always good.
Blu Skiiz: It still holds up today.
CatRan76: I am truly amazed when watching the tapes at what a quality show it was.
CCTRU: Okay I don’t know this WHY was it cancelled? Did it never get a good time slot? I certainly was watching.

LaDMorton: So that’s where you started writing! LOL
MrJBolt: No, that’s when I started stealing from other people’s scripts.
Blu Skiiz: LOL, Robert!
LaDMorton, Nea Wood, DSoucie, Mandi3020, TMSJ: LOL!
Cccasperrr: Which scripts?
MrJBolt: Carroll O’Connor encouraged me to change the dialogue to suit me.
LaDMorton: Well, you seemed to have set a precedent among the group! LOL
Laskye: Good for Carroll!
Nea Wood: Can you think of any changes you made now?
Buc252: Oh, so you knew Carroll O’Connor before your guest stint on "Heat"?
Mandi3020: Well Robert, we think you said everything beautifully.
Blu Skiiz: Good one, Mandi, right from a "Brides" script!
TMSJ: So Jason became more you?
MrJBolt: I met Carroll when I was playing Ulysses in "Night Town", James Joyce’s story. I was Stephen Dedelus and Carroll was Buck Mulligan. In 1957-58.
LaDMorton: In New York?
MrJBolt: Yes, in New York.
MrJBolt: Zero Mostel played in it as well.
LaDMorton: I know it. That would have been something to see. He was wonderful!
TMSJ: That must have been a neat play!
Nea Wood: You’ve worked with some incredible people.
CCTRU: A talent among many.
Nea Wood: Walter Matthau was in your class?
MrJBolt: Yes, Matthau was in school ahead of me. We acted together a number of times.
Nea Wood: He’s wonderful!
Mlvc 72 ss: Kewl
Blu Skiiz: He’s great --- is he funny in person?
MrJBolt: I was the leading boy, "George", and Matthau played the parent of the girl next door.
LaDMorton: What was the play? Where you played the lead and Matthau the parent?
MKBaughan: "Our Town"?
MrJBolt: Matthau and I did many plays together.
JLBKO: What was your favorite play?

JLBKO: Did they ever consider marrying off a brother?
MrJBolt: Yes, they were going to marry off Jeremy.
Nea Wood: Really?
LaDMorton: Now you’ve done it! LOL
Nea Wood: Why didn’t they? We all wanted them to.
JLBKO: OH YEAH WHEN?!
Mandi3020: There was a plan?
Blu Skiiz: They didn’t have the chance, I bet! For the next season?
Buc252: That makes sense. Josh got dumped a lot and Jason was pretty much father to everybody. (Except Lottie, of course.)
Cccasperrr: Poor Josh.
JLBKO: Many weddings, but no honeymoons on that show.
CCTRU: And there wasn’t anyone else for Jeremy than Candy.
MKBaughan: Did any other characters become regulars (besides Biddie) that were supposedly one time only?
JLBKO: I thought one of the best lines Joan said to you was in the Holly Houston episode about any children of yours arriving early but named Bolt. They never followed that in the second season. I thought the Amish romance preposterous because it was hard to believe Jason would leave.

Blu Skiiz: Are there any actors / actresses today that you especially admire?
MrJBolt: Just last night I saw "The Birdcage" with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. I thought Nathan deserved an Academy Award.
Blu Skiiz: Oh yes, I must agree, he was great in that.
LaDMorton: Yes.
CCTRU: He was / is fabulous in that.

Cccasperrr: You have such a wonderful voice, have you considered doing a book on tape?
MrJBolt: I do voiceovers, not books on tape. That would be like acting. If I was going to act I would do films, but I put that behind me many years ago.
Nea Wood: That’s too bad, we would all love to see you again!
LaDMorton: Don’t you have to do just a little acting in those commercials? LOL
Blu Skiiz: That’s for sure, but it seems you have a lovely life now, and I can’t blame you. CatRan76: You make the cat food sound delicious.
Blu Skiiz and LaDMorton: LOL
MKBaughan: Isn’t that what acting is all about?
Nea Wood: Yes, I almost want to buy cat food, and I don’t have a cat!
Laskye: By the way, my cat, Frankie, eats Iams cat food!!
Nea Wood: You have a cat, right, Robert?
Blu Skiiz: I was going to ask about your cat’s name! Cute!
MrJBolt: Acting is all imagination.
Mandi3020: My daughter wants to be an actress, I’ll tell her what you said, Robert.
LaDMorton: Oh, there’s a little technique in there somewhere!
MrJBolt: Sometimes, on occasion, the real you is touched by the character.
Cccasperrr: Lots of imagination in this group.
Laskye: Do you prefer theatre work or television?
MrJBolt: It depended on the scripts.
Nea Wood: Then there’s hope!

JLBKO: Can you ride a horse well?
MrJBolt: I can make believe I can ride a horse.
Buc252: Who was the best rider among you? Yourself, David, or Bobby?
MrJBolt: David was the best rider on a horse. We went on a trip to Mexico and David rode around on an Olympic horse. He was magnificent on a horse.
LaDMorton: The games in Mexico City?
Buc252: That’s wonderful. I doubt he gets much of a chance to ride to ride over in England.
MrJBolt: Yes, before the games in Mexico City.
LaDMorton: What a thrill!
Buc252: Did the public recognize you in Mexico?

LaDMorton: What are you writing these days?
JLBKO: Please write us a short story about Jason Bolt 20 or 30 years later.
Blu Skiiz: Yes, we know you write about yourself, which is great any other stories happening?
MrJBolt: I put my pen down to restore an old house and build a new studio for my wife. It’s taking up all of my time.
Nea Wood: How sweet!
Blu Skiiz: How nice!!!
LaDMorton: How’s the restoration going?
Mandi3020: How old is the house you are restoring?
Buc252: Do you do all the work yourself, or do you have helpers? That’s a lot of work.

Nea Wood: Do you ever get recognized?
MrJBolt: I’ll be standing in the market or somewhere and people will hear my voice and recognize the voice.
Nea Wood: Oh, yes! That wonderful voice, I’m not surprised.
MrJBolt: They want to know when the hair turned silver. LOL
Cccasperrr: There’s that voice again! Sigh.
Nea Wood: LOL
TMSJ: Your voice is unforgettable.
LaDMorton: Don’t care a bit!
Blu Skiiz: I’ll bet they do! It’s very easy for me to recognize!

LaDMorton: I won’t ask if you won’t!
CatRan76: You would look great even with no hair!
Nea Wood: It’s very distinguished.
Blu Skiiz: Yes, it looks good!

Blu Skiiz: Robert, if it’s not too personal, how did you and your wife meet? When did you get married?
MrJBolt: I met my wife and we were both married to someone else.
JLBKO: Oh oh
LaDMorton: And?
CCTRU: Not the same someone else I hope.
LaDMorton: Robert you’d be well advised not to make a hanging statement like that with this group. LOL
MrJBolt: We were just friends and it had nothing to do with both our marriages breaking up. We had known each other for 30 years and discovered that we should have left home 10 years before that, but didn’t even know then that we cared for each other.
LaDMorton: Better late than never!
MrJBolt: She is a great woman, a great wife. We’ve been living together for 20 years and we’ve been married for 12 years.
Nea Wood: Oh, how sweet!
Laskye: Wonderful for you Robert. Congrats on 20 years of happiness.
MKBaughan: And may you have many more.
Blu Skiiz: At least you are together now, it was meant to be.
JLBKO: Is she an actress?
Mandi3020: Well, it’s good you are together now.
CCTRU: At least you’ve found each other now a great marriage has no time limits.
CatRan76: I love happy endings!
Nea Wood: What does she think of this chat happening today?
Laskye: I loved seeing her artwork while in Seattle last May. It was great.
Blu Skiiz: Tell her we all say hello.
LaDMorton: I love to know that nice people have happy lives.
TMSJ: I’ve found some of her art on the Web. Wish there was more.
MrJBolt: We’ve heard about the artwork on the web, but haven’t seen it yet.
LaDMorton: I’ve seen it, but it’s hard to grasp a 4x6 canvas on these screens!
(Editor’s note: Robert and Elisse were shown the websites after this chat. Elisse now has her own web page:
Meet Artist Elisse Pogofsky-Harris )

DSoucie: Here is my question: What was your first television job?
MrJBolt: First television job was Camera 3 in New York. A Sunday network program.
DSoucie: Wow.
Mandi3020: Robert, you were a cameraman?
MKBaughan: Camera 3 was a playhouse type show.
Mandi3020: Oh, I see. Thanks, Marsha, didn’t understand, obviously LOL!

Buc252: What do you think of the on line craze? Do you have any desire to get "on line" yourself? Or are you on line now?
MrJBolt: I don’t have a computer. This is the first time I have seen it happen.
Nea Wood: So, what do you think?
LaDMorton: For some of us as well.
Blu Skiiz: What do you think of it so far?
Cccasperrr: We do this every Tuesday, Robert.
CCTRU: Only more chaotic.
MrJBolt: Being on line is magic.
JLBKO: It is for us tonight.
Cccasperrr: Amen.
Buc252: Yes it is. To talk to people so far away...
LaDMorton: Indeed!
Blu Skiiz: It does seem like it, doesn’t it? We’re from all over the country, yet right next to each other.
CCTRU: It’s a weird feeling like we’re close to you, but we’re not really.
LaDMorton: To have a chance to meet people you’d otherwise never know.
Mandi3020: We really do have a wonderful time in our chats.
MKBaughan: It’s like having automatic pen pals.
TMSJ: It is. So neat to see videotapes of HCTB, and to do this is beyond words.
Nea Wood: Yes, we’re like instant friends when we meet.
Blu Skiiz: It’s so nice of you to do this for us, Robert. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
CCTRU: And the HCTB trivia questions are amazing!
MKBaughan: It’s really fun when we meet, too, LA was an interesting trip, to put the faces to the names.
Blu Skiiz: Yes, so much in common automatically, same age group and experiences, etc.
MrJBolt: I feel privileged to be talking to all of you that I have never met.
LaDMorton: It’s our privilege.
Nea Wood: The privilege is all ours!
TMSJ: :-)
LaDMorton: And thrill.
Blu Skiiz: How sweet, Robert.
Cccasperrr: Nice of you to say.
Mandi3020: Absolutely, we are the ones honored!
JLBKO: Would you like to ship us all around the horn? We’ll pay.
CCTRU: You don’t know how happy you are making all of us!
Mlvc 72 ss: Yes!
Micnpam: A six month voyage, how nice!
JLBKO: I know about the canal, but I’ll take the horn if you are aboard.
CCTRU: A HCTB cruise where do sign up?

LaDMorton: What sort of music do you listen to?
MrJBolt: I love so called long hair, serious music. And jazz.
LaDMorton: Which composers? Pieces?
MrJBolt: The romantic opera, romantic concertos.
JLBKO: What is your favorite opera?
LaDMorton: I always knew you were a romantic.

Micnpam: Robert, did you have a HCTB episode that was your favorite?
Bahull: What episode was most challenging, Robert, while doing "Brides"?
MrJBolt: I never did remember from week to week which story followed which story. After all these years you have to remind me which ones you liked.
MKBaughan: I like "A Far Cry From Yesterday", the first show in the second season.
Mandi3020: We can recite dialogue at the drop of a hat! LOL
Bahull: I loved the end of "Bolt of Kilmaron". Uncle Duncan.
Nea Wood: Ah, yes.
Blu Skiiz: All the episodes were wonderful.
MrJBolt: I liked the Scottish one.
LaDMorton: Robert, I understand you haven’t seen any episodes in a while and Patti is giving you a set?
TMSJ: But it’s the overall feeling from HCTB the relationships between the characters, their personalities, everything, that I liked.
Cccasperrr: Yes, the relationships between the brothers.
Nea Wood: It was your suggestion to make the Bolts Scottish, I hear?
Laskye: I listen to Scottish / Celtic music a lot, loved the background of the Bolts!
JLBKO: Were the Bolts Scots because you are of Scots descent?
MrJBolt: Yes, the Bolts were Scottish because I was. LOL It was just a fluke.
JLBKO: I meant if they wrote that into the show with your background in mind.
MKBaughan: It gave them a good background for that episode, that’s for sure!
Nea Wood: It was a wonderful addition to the show.
LaDMorton: Because of your personal connection I understand you’ve gone to the Highland Games?
MrJBolt: I was Grand Master of the Highland Games.
LaDMorton: So I heard! What a sight, laddie!
Nea Wood: When Jason wore kilts, were they yours?
JLBKO: So what do you wear under the kilt?
MKBaughan: Don’t get started on that one!
Laskye: My friend wears kilts, but I’ll never tell ya, tee-hee!
MrJBolt: Yes, the kilts Jason wore belonged to me.
Blu Skiiz: Oh how neat to know that!
LaDMorton: Nice legs.
MrJBolt: Thank you.
Nea Wood: Nice face, too!
CatRan76: Nice chest!
Cccasperrr: Nice hands.
MKBaughan: Okay, enough with the body parts.
Buc252: Do you ever wish you’d done a "flashback" episode, so you could have played Jonathan Bolt, the father?
MrJBolt: Yes, I have visited Scotland.
LaDMorton: Where have you visited in Scotland? I’ve always wanted to go. Recommend some places, please.
Micnpam: What is your favorite place that you’ve visited during your travels?
MrJBolt: Italy and Scotland in that order are my favorites. And I like London.
Micnpam: Those are places I long to see someday
.
Nea Wood: You’re also English, right?

Blu Skiiz: We’ve read that you were shy as a child, how did you overcome that to become an actor?
MrJBolt: I guess learning how to concentrate to shut out all distractions, including your own thoughts. That’s how I overcame the shyness.
Blu Skiiz: That’s great, Robert, you really overcame the shyness wonderfully!
Nea Wood: Yes, Jason Bolt was anything but shy. And you played him so well.
Micnpam: You were simply marvelous as Jason Bolt. No one could have done it better.
CatRan76: No one. He was so commanding a presence.
TMSJ: I totally agree.
CCTRU: I keep remembering Jason with that apron baking a pie!
Mandi3020: Yeah, with Abigail!
JLBKO: Who was your favorite bride?
CCTRU: Good question.
Laskye: Oh that is a loaded question LOL

DSoucie: Here is another question: Did you get training for your great voice?
MrJBolt: Thank you about the great voice. I studied voice production at dramatic school.
DSoucie: OK.
LaDMorton: See! Technique!
MrJBolt: I have continued to do exercises still.
LaDMorton: Classic training shows.
JLBKO: Do you sing?
Blu Skiiz: That school served you well, but I’m sure much of it is "you". (We love your voice, can you tell? LOL)
CCTRU: And the body ain’t bad either!

LaDMorton: In the interview you mentioned "creating yourself" while you were in the Navy.
MrJBolt: Yes, creation is to invent your future from your desires, to live the life of your dreams.
LaDMorton: That’s a wonderful thought.
Micnpam: That’s a beautiful thought.
Laskye: I agree 100% Robert. I wanted to live my dream of moving to LA, and I did it, 3 years ago. Dreams can and really do come true.
Bahull: Well put, Robert.
JLBKO: So did you live the life of your dreams?
Blu Skiiz: You’re so poetic, Robert.
TMSJ: I like that.
Cccasperrr: Sigh
Nea Wood: Sounds like you’re living the life of your dreams now, Robert.
Micnpam: This is a dream come true today!
Blu Skiiz: Yes, you deserve the happy life you lead now, Robert.
JLBKO: We are unabashedly crazy about you and for that we make no apology. Even 30 years later.
Micnpam: Some things never change, like our admiration for you and HCTB.
JLBKO: So did your imagination help you develop
the character of Jason Bolt?

LaDMorton: Did that war experience influence you? Where did you serve in the Navy? I know the Pacific what did you do?
MrJBolt: Yes the war influenced me, it gave me all those hours looking at the horizon from the ship’s rail.......daydreaming, even at night. I wanted to change - and did. The shy boy left me......in my imagination.
LaDMorton: Horizons a nice metaphor. But at some point, what you imagined came true!
CCTRU: He made it come true.
Nea Wood: I think if we were hearing you say these lovely things in your own voice we’d all melt! LOL
Blu Skiiz: I’m imagining it.
Mandi3020: I was just thinking that very thought!
TMSJ: Imagination is wonderful.
MrJBolt: It was the second World war. I did my best to keep away from danger. I bribed someone to get a job in the laundry, to get my own bunk, and a door to shut. And every night in port, a pass.
Nea Wood: Ha! Good for you! LOL
LaDMorton: Very clever man!
JLBKO: A girl in every port?
MrJBolt: Even made money throwing crap games behind that locked door.
LaDMorton: Really? Make any money?
Laskye: And what fun you had in port, right?
MrJBolt: I learned even then how to get around inhibiting influences.
LaDMorton: And what were the later inhibiting influences?
Micnpam: Thank you, Robert. You are a great
inspiration to me.
MKBaughan: Me, too.
MKBaughan: Me, too.
MrJBolt: I wasn’t much good at being an obedient sailor boy.
Blu Skiiz: LOL!
Laskye: Ooooh la la.
LaDMorton: I’m shocked (grin)
Nea Wood: Can’t blame you for that!
Mandi3020: Robert, you’re funny!
Nea Wood: I bet you looked good in the uniform, though!
Micnpam: Ah, yes!
CCTRU: Thanks for the great quote I’m going to use it at work. I’ll give you credit, though.
JLBKO: You must have been in toward the end of the war.
MKBaughan: It probably made for some interesting adventures.
MrJBolt: Every character an actor plays is an invention.
Laskye: True.
Mandi3020: Was there just a little of you in Jason though?
JLBKO: Who were your inspirations for Jason??
Blu Skiiz: I think a lot of him was in Jason, listen to how he speaks!
Nea Wood: True.
TMSJ: I totally agree.
JLBKO: You don’t let your guard down easily we see.
MrJBolt: I went into the service in 1944. We were the first ship to land in Japan after the bomb had been dropped. I was in the Amphibious Forces, United States Navy.
LaDMorton: What an experience that must have been.
Micnpam: Oh, that must have been quite an experience.
MKBaughan: I’ll bet that was difficult to deal with.
Laskye: Oh gosh, I’ll bet that was an experience you’ll never forget.
Nea Wood: Thank you though, for doing it!!
Blu Skiiz: You really must write your life story, this is so interesting!
Blu Skiiz: We’d all be happy to read the early drafts.
Micnpam: That would make such an exciting story!
LaDMorton: If you need an editor, I’m available! (grin)
JLBKO: I have been to the American cemetery in Normandy. I’ll never forget it.
Mandi3020: Thank you for serving our country, Robert.
JLBKO: Were you drafted or did you enlist?
MrJBolt: I enlisted.
LaDMorton: Why?
JLBKO: Did you have a romantic view of the war initially? The reason for enlisting, I mean.
MrJBolt: I enlisted because all the grownups were in the war. I went to the movies and saw films about the war. Like any young boy I was foolish enough to want to go fight. Today, I would hide under the bed.
Blu Skiiz: And we’re so glad you came through it safely. They made it seem so romantic and noble, I suppose.
Micnpam: I think I would, too! (hide under the bed)
Cccasperrr: Don’t blame you.
